So this thing is for sale locally at $900, it's in such good condition aesthetically and only has 99k mi. I think I'm gonna buy it, fix it a bit, and send it to local auction. People love K cars. It's got the Mitsubishi 2.6L even

This is proof that not all older Chrysler products are junk. This blue Grand Voyager was purchased by the present owner for $500. A/C is ice cold, everything works, and despite having over 260K miles the engine ran great and used no oil. As far as Chrysler engines go, the 3.3L V6 used in the minivans from 1999 until maybe 2010 was pretty durable if properly maintained; I agree with you that K-cars are junk though...

They are junk, but I have a soft spot for them. The 2.6L Shitsubishi is dubious at best, but if you maintain them they last. My aunt and uncle bought a brand new 1986 Plymouth Voyager LE almost 40 years ago. In the interest of saving up for a really nice house, they held onto that van for 11 years. It had well over 100K miles when they sold it and bought a new 1997 Plymouth Voyager. In the 1986 Voyager, the shocks that held up the liftgate had given out by the early 1990s and they carried a wooden fence post around in the van to prop it up, and the A/C compressor seized in 1993 or 1994. They replaced the A/C compressor and, as stated above, drove it until 1997. Being an LE, the van was pretty much loaded. The Chrysler minivans were such a hot commodity that they had to order it to get the exact color combo and options they wanted. They were living in Marietta, Georgia at the time, and they bought it at a dealer in Alabama because that dealer had the best deal.

The van was red with a gray cloth interior and had the 2.6L/automatic, A/C, cruise, tilt, and a stereo cassette. My uncle is pretty sure it had power windows and locks, I seem to remember that it had crank windows, and my aunt doesn't remember at all.

Chrysler minivans will always hold a special place in my heart because they were such a huge part of my childhood.

Its really weird to see a K car in good condition anymore that's the only reason I'm interested. I don't much care for them but it's an oddity and a very clean one at that. This one isn't even fuel injected, but that gave me the thought... Well if I'm going to send it to auction maybe putting a 2 barrel Holley Sniper EFI kit on it might make it more appealing for the buyer that actually wants to drive it. The carb probably works fine when it's tuned and clean but I kinda doubt it's either of those currently.

So it's got a clean title and runs? I also see that it has A/C!

It has a clean title and runs on brake cleaner or starting fluid. So either the carb is gummed and the float is stuck closed or the mechanical fuel pump diaphragm took a crap. Either way it's an easy fix and a new fuel pump and a whole new fuel tank are less than $150

You gonna get the A/C working if it doesn't work? You seem like the type of guy who could take on an R134a retrofit...

However, don't you have a stash of R-12 for servicing the Cruiser?

Yeah I'd probably make it work, usually a pretty easy task. I have R12 and R12a lying around. Either would work fine. Even 134 would do okay I bet, but it's being removed from production like R12 now.

It's just a product name for a hydrocarbon refrigerant, very similar to propane but not as pure as R290. But similar pressure curve as R12

Also, I believe that car has a 3-speed Torqueflite transmission; I'm pretty sure that as far Chrysler drivetrains go, those are pretty damn bulletproof...

LOL, trying to even remember what it looked like inside, thinking it had a nasty light brown or tan interior.

1982, it's a Dodge 400, so one of 5,500 made that year and of 10,000 made in total the two years the 400 was made.

That was actually a tagline for Chrysler, even though it was a just glorified vinyl...
