I would prefer the maintenance required light to come on at 7.5k Instead of 5k. Does anyone know how to do this? Preferably without techstream, as I don't have access to that.

    Oh look, another mod....
No one (that I know of) has figured out a way to change WHEN it comes on (Meaning they can't change it form 5k to 7.5k or 10k). We only know how to reset it so it stops alerting us.

It seems like that would be a useful function though, given that we all know what duty we put our trucks through. Hmm

Don't over think it man. Just do what I (and probably others do), manually reset it, then keep track of the mileage so you know when to do the maintenance.

Use trip meter B on the odometer.

This. Do this on my wife’s car and mine. Easy to just hit the button and see how many miles since last change.

I use both trip meters often enough that I don't want to use it for oil changes. I tear off the label of the oil filter when I change oil and write the date and mileage on it and keep it in the glovebox for reference.

For the 1st 9 years and 180,000 miles I did 10k oil changes. When the light came on at 5K I changed the filter and reset it. Next time I changed the oil and filter. That worked out to about every 6 months for oil changes. Now my Tacoma is a 3rd vehicle and isn't driven as much. I do 5000 mile changes now only because that still works out to about every 6 months. It's not just miles, but time.

I do similar. Tear off the box lid of filter and tack it to garage wall. Always there for quick reference.

I guess I'm a simpleton.....I just memorize what the mileage was when I changed it and use a 6000 mile OCI.
