    The lathe I used was smaller. Supposed to be more compact, maneuverable. It wasn't. Since we had to move the caliper and brackets anyway. It only took a about a minute to remove the rotor, if rust wasn't an issue. Then to install it on the bench top brake lathe it took less time with a better cut/finish. The portable lathe left a lip that could be cut and had to be hand finish. Other portable lathe may finish better but the company wasn't going to spend the money to find something else. Today's portable lathe are probably better than what it was back then.
