For those that have already installed, can you install these on a stock height Tacoma TRD OR without needing to jack it up or put it on ramps?

Yes. If you think you can scooch on your back from underneath the driver's door to the front passengers, then you have plenty of elbow room to pull the braces and install the shields. Just have a clean drive or garage floor and a dirty shirt to crawl around with.

For sure. I have a 1” lift, but I’m also 280 lbs. and had plenty of room.

At this price it seems like a no brainer, but can anyone with a manual confirm fit is fine out of the box? Want to order something as I’m going to try and do my break in oil change, the AC drip mod, and a cat shield. Really it’s down to going all out for the steep Miller or this one.

Mine is a TRD Sport, stock suspension. Installed no problem without jacking up the truck.

Ha ha , this one didn't have a bit, no big deal I bought a set because I need a set to do my dads ignition tumbler on his dodge.
Shields fit good, plenty of room for the ATF hose, I picked up 4 extra security screws and used them on both ends of the brace.

Don't hold your breath. I got shipping notification and an estimated delivery time of Tuesday last week. After it came and went FedEx updated their projection to show that it was just a label creation. Not complaining mind you. I figured there would be a wait.

I ordered a set after a few catalytic converter thefts at work. Easy install and seems secure. Very satisfied.

I'm hoping my order ships any day now. Truck was in the shop waiting for the first cat someone cutout and someone snuck in to the yard and cut the second one out. Really don't want to have to deal with them stealing the new ones before I can get the shields and install them. ordered on dec 14th so hopefully coming soon.

About the "security hardware"...I could sift through allllllll the posts, but...

BTW, received my set today (Alaska) and my brother (Ohio) should get his set I ordered at the same time...tomorrow.

I didn't comprehend the "security hardware" was a standard T40 security head. I believe some others offer a unique/harder to obtain security head? I'd like to find these before I install mine. Anyone have any thoughts or information on this? Thanks!

Found this relative info...https://www.talonsgarage.com/security-locking-bolts-1 but still looking for more info? Maybe I nailed it myself...I need some sleep!

My thought is this: How many thieves will happen to have the following items in their pocket?

    • 12mm socket
    • 14mm socket
    • 14 mm box wrench
And how many thieves will have the above, PLUS a standard T40 security bit?

Most of them will just have a battery powered reciprocating saw. All you are trying to do is slow down their sawin' to make it too much of a pain to not be worth it. The security hardware is nice and makes a nice show of "don't fuck with me." But in my opinion it is overkill even if it's a plain ol' T40. You really don't want it to be so specialized that a mechanic with legitimate reasons to work on that area would be locked out.

Honestly, I really debated installing the security bolts at all. I only installed them because they look cool, but I don't think that they make the guards any more or less defeatable. Thieves cut and pry. They don't unbolt (unless its the only way to preserve the value of their target part).

    My opinion. :cookiemonster:

Agree. Make my truck less attractive than others to thieves. Sorry, but that's how it is. Same with house security. Make them move on to the next house.

Maybe I’m crazy, but I’m pretty sure my security screws had a little post in the middle of the torx head, and the bit that came with had a little hole drilled in the middle of the tip to accept that post, so a normal torx bit wouldn’t work unless you drilled a hole into it. Are yours not like that?

    That's exactly the game.

A good 30-40% of my neighbors don't even lock their doors, nor do they bother cleaning items off of their vehicle seats at night. (their reasoning behind that is a tangent too long to go into.) That's my competition. If all I have to do is lock my door and take my work briefcase inside, then my car automatically becomes an undesirable target. Park it in the garage and close the garage door, then relatively speaking I'm the Fort Knox of the neighborhood. So that's the object. Be the relative Fort Knox in a place where others are storing their valuables curbside.

Yes. Security Torx. Its different than a normal torx, but still readily available at hardware stores.

harbor freight has a nice kit to defeat any so called security bits. "security" bits are a joke. they only function as "inconvenience" bits.
i find the post on the security torx bit actually makes it easier to shove/lock in a flat blade and defeat it that way if i don't have the right bit handy.
