I got the same one after a bunch of research. Sounds like I made a good choice. I'm a solder kind of guy too. I'm guessing we're of similar age since we both have grandkids. I like the idea of my grandson playing games on it! Kickers, Subaru tweeters, and sound deadening are on my list too. Thanks for the review!

they are pretty nice in comparison to doing my 90 toyota truck, heck even easier than some subarus, where you need a tool to compress the two halves of the bearings into the hub. but yeah the tacoma is super nice

    Holely floor mat, BATMAN

The Tacoma has carpet and carpet floor mats. I like the carpet and find the vinyl replacement floor mats allow me to slip when pushing back into the driver’s seat. So I prefer carpet. I also like the T twist locks to keep the mats in place. Have bought several factory sets on Graig’s list, but tired of driving to find out the sets are badly worn or a bait and switch scam. Maybe I should just get a new factory set.

In the auto parts store yesterday they were clearing out some universal floor mats. 15$ for a pair and I picked up a set. I thought about just cutting a slot for the T twist locks so I examined the factory slot and discovered the top and bottom are held together with 4 small snap fasteners. Very carefully I used the tip of small screwdriver and opened the grommets. Cut a small oval in the mats at the appropriate places, snapped the grommets back together and saved some cash. The passenger side mat is okay so I will leave it in place.

The passenger side mat is okay so I will leave it in place. So when the bargain driver’s mat is holey again, I will use the second “new” mat to replace the current mat.

Took about an hour and a half.

I have all the parts on order to do my wheel bearings. Drivers side has been making some noise and brake pulsating when stopping for the past couple of weeks. I ordered all OEM parts and will press the new hubs and bearings together.

Replaced all my idler pulleys, headlights, and cracked tail light! I always liked the way OEM headlights and taillights look. Aftermarket ones just look cheep.

How difficult are the valve cover gaskets? Changed my spark plugs two weeks ago and one of the plugs came up with the porcelain coated in oil.

Absolutely agree with you about taillights. I have one oem and one after market. Passenger side after market is turning pink! Now I need to find another oem one for the passenger side.

I cannot confirm if it adds strength. I would say is does not, nor does it lower the strength.
I think it is built for convenience. Other companies sell kits to strengthen the tailgate.
