It's been 6 weeks since I said good bye to my old girl Lola. She made it 16 years and 7 months.
I didn't realize how much of my life revolved around taking care of Lola in her later years. I miss
her bunches. I catch myself still wanting to check on her and look around the corner for her. Might
be awhile before I even think about another Lab.

One day, it will be right and she’ll let you know it’s OK. Riley’s been gone two years on the sixth and I never thought I’d have another. And here we are, Kimo came at just the right time and through a chance convo here (of all places).

They’re part of the family and so hard to say goodbye to. Like Ian said, you’ll know when the time is right. Let your heart heal and remember all the good times and energy Lola brought to your life!

I thought I’d share this pic with you of our Lola that we just brought home today…hope it helps in some way. She’s settling in nicely and gets along well already with our Lab Cash.

To this day, ten+ years later, I still find his toys here and there once in a while, old tennis balls all over the place out in the woods behind the house and pictures I don't remember taking. He's here taking care of us. All dogs go to heaven. I'm a better person for having had the opportunity to raise that "pup". (Everyone who's ever had one knows that lab's are still puppies until they are at least two years old: and it's never completely gone!) ;)

This is such a great thread, it’s so nice to be able to share our pups and stories with others that can really relate

Great pics!!! Perfect general title for them: "The Three Musketeers" lol For the last pic: "We look like we're tired, but we're just sad because they're making us go home!

    Priceless.

Have you not got a new pup? I'm 65 and have never not had a dog.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I've tried to avoid the bandana thing for Tessa. I told my wife one or two would be OK, especially after I saw one that said "Daddy's Girl," because she is. She said she made "a few" for Christmas.

I took Riley to the groomer once. He came home smelling "interesting", wearing a bandana, and with a blue bow on his head--no, I'm not kidding.

The groomer asked about bows and bandanas. I said not if you want to see her again. Message received.

My wife puts them in our dog's hair. The dog, she is not a fan of them though.

I pushed Remi a little too hard on our run yesterday. After 9 miles her front pads had worn through and she was bleeding. She never slowed down and I only noticed when we were done. It had to be the ice cause she runs with me 20-30 miles a week. Poor baby.

We have not. But: we get to baby-sit my son's lab when he is traveling. We spoil him awful when he's here, but he never lets on by acting up because of it... runs right to his bed to lay down when he hears his truck door shut out in the driveway upon his return. lol Good Dog! (Just gives us a bit of fake a sad-face when he's leaving.) We trained him good on that. Smart Dog! :D
