I don't know if it's more moist, but when I first saw it I was sure there was a problem. But inspection showed no wet carpet, or anything else. And after a number of days, no musty odor. But I had never before seen that much condensation. I wish I had a picture. We have security cams, but I think enough days have passed that any video has already been overwritten.

You definitely don't want carpet getting so moist that it gets musty. Hell, that's why i don't have carpet!

Same issue with moisture here in Baton Rouge. Musty smell and damp moist interior especially at night. Did research today and found both the rear vents behind seats were leaking. Pushed tabs to get enough gap and used a tube of marine silicone to seal. Took out under seat storage and damp but not bad but moldy where floor meets back wall. Treated with bleach solution and let dry very good. Figured I detail clean inside. While vacuuming front drivers floor, water was coming to surface of carpet. Pull trim and looked under carpet, horrible smell and puddling water. It is the low point so I guess I have a bigger issue than originally thought. Called dealership and I’m just out of warranty and no help there. Will start with insurance company in morning. Carpet gotta come out!

I had it replaced 3 times. The last time it was sealed from the inside with sealant and outside with a new gasket under the new light. I had to have headliner, rear seat covers and new carpet due to that darn light.

The TSB outlined how to check the seams etc for leaks.

The Antenna has also been known to leak and run down into the cabin via the antenna wire.

A girl I dated a long time ago had an irrational hatred of the word "moist." Apparently, I do now too.

Update! Been on phone all morning with insurance company, dealership, Gulf States Toyota, upholstery shop, mold treatment, NHSTA and Toyota corporate. I suggest you all open a complaint with Toyota @ 800-331-4331 due to these rear seat vents leaking. When my wife rode in truck early December a couple of times, she said my truck stunk. Week prior to Christmas, she was hospitalized with a lung fungal infection , might be related. When I called Toyota this morning, I got to speak to all kinds of people. When they asked what I wanted from Toyota, I told them I wanted them to make it right. I’m waiting to hear back from them on course of action. I feel the gaskets are from the same company as the 3rd brake light . It’s going to fail if yours already hasn’t. Check your rear carpet often especially after a rain or wash.

Call and open your claim and maybe we will stop paying out of pocket for poor quality.

I don't even have vents behind the back seat. I've removed the plastic cargo holders. No vents. LoL, they forgot mine.

Pretty sure you do have a cabin vent back there. It acts like a check valve and allows the air to blow out and prevent anything coming in. More like a flapper valve. If it wasn't there the doors would be hard to close/latch due to the air pressure buildup when slamming the doors shut.

Looks like this on the inside of the cab.

I already put my junk back behind the seat and didn't take a picture.

But i have the stamped out area in the sheet metal, but it is not cut nor does it have the vents installed. Must have been made on a Monday?
