TPMS sensor replacement recommendations?

My 2017 has a still good set of KO2’s (about 50% wear). Instead of running them down, I was contemplating selling them with the stock wheels and original still working TPMS valve stems on them (6yrs and 75k miles) as I will probably need to replace those sometime in the near future also. I got a great deal on brand new condition OEM stock OR rims that I would like to keep, but instead of putting on my old sensors, would like to get new ones. Most tire shops are quoting me $400 to put in new Autel MX sensors. That seems way too much! Any suggestions and recommendations for DIY ones? The Autel MX series look good and will work with the truck like the original sensors, but need programming and calibration? What’s that about or are there other sensors (like the “pre-programmed” ones) that would be better and could last another 6 years or 75k miles?

 

Get the original ones out and call it a day.

 

I just replaced my original sensors at 9 years of age. 1 was bad 2 were going bad

 

I have two sets of wheels with Autel 315MX clone sensors with no problems.

 

Thanks but not really an answer - as I said my post, the original ones are getting old and will probably need to be replaced soon. I don’t think they will outlast another set of new tires and I will have to buy and remount more new sensors before the tires are used up.

I was also hoping to sweeten the deal (and profit) by selling my old rims with the old tires still mounted and my still working old TPMS sensors on them.

did you have to reprogram your new sensors or could you put them right on? What about calibration?

 

Scan your old sensors, write down each of the four ID#s.
Buy four Autel 315MX clone sensors. Each of the four Autel sensors will need to have each of the four OEM ID#s you wrote down copied to it.
No programming the truck since the 4 ID#s are already in it.

 

Clone sensors use the ID#s already programmed into the truck and the ID#s are read off your OEM sensors..

 

battery life expectancy is 10 years, some go early, some hang on for longer
you should have 3 to 4 years left on your current ones, or could die tomorrow

 

yes the light comes on, on the dash and the sensors will not reset

 

Which scanner did you use?

 

You could probably buy 4 autel sensors and the programmer, TS508 iirc, for $400.

 

Autel TS601 since I did not have an OBDII reader.

 

You don't need programmer, just have shop program them. Just had dealer install new tire buy3, get 4th free. Had new sensors installed $250 for sensors and program.

 

Just put these sensors in my daughters truck, they came with both metal & rubber valve stems. Shop had no issues with programming.

 

i have Autel MX sensors and when at a slow roll they lose connection.

 

....on ebay, they have 5 new Toyota OE sensors that fit for $53..00

 

On my 2019 the tire sensors don’t report the pressure to the dash when it’s cold (this just started). Seems like they should last longer then six years but only thing I can think is that one or more of the tire pressure sensors batteries are getting tired.

 

...one, or more, may have finally failed on my 09', though the stem on my spare has gotten bad and it might be that one. ...last year when it got cold, I had one come on for weeks, and then, surprisingly, just went back off on its own. ...either way, I need new tires, so it is time, and with one in the spare, I was happy to see the 5 pack noted above....
