My niece did this custom embroidery for the seat.

Now I have to sturdy up the seat pan and reupholster it. It needs a little bit of reshaping first and I am going to weld up all the holes in it to make it strong.

judging by the number of oh shits and the "hey my riding buddy is insano" disclaimer (that dude IS NUTS) I'm gonna say it's super legit... which really speaks against the whole "IMBA trails are lame" argument... just takes the right local input!

I just rode my trek stache for the first time in like 6ish months, basically since I got my Ripley. Some takeaways: stache has traction for days but still rolls pretty fast, stache doesn’t like rocks or roots at all, Sram GX 1x11 shifts so smoothly, it makes me wonder why I run eagle haha.

Has anyone here performed a Float X2 air can service without having to rebuild the damper? All my research shows that you can't perform just an air can service on the Float X2 (I have a 2018).

What a difference tires make. Swapped to some proper tires for my terrain and the Arrival is a different machine. All the good traits are still there, and the few negative attributes vanished.

Still undecided if I like the tanwalls, but it’s what I had on hand. Don’t hate it, but don’t love it either. Dropped right at 1lbs by changing tires. Feels like 3lbs when on the pedals. Quite a few segment PRs today on one of my local trails.

Added a splash of color with custom graphics on the Lyrik. New dropper going on tomorrow or Monday so I can hopefully get proper leg extension.

Unfortunately, you can't do just an air can service on a Float X2. The negative air can seals are "deeper" than the main damper seal head. Bummer.... I know.

I thought it was a decent bike rig and off-roader while I had it. I didn't own it very long, but I never had a problem with it running on 37s (11mo/22k miles). My old 98 Wrangler was heavily modified, problematic, and I loved it. Decided to reduce debt, and sold it to get back into a Taco.

That looks pretty sweet with the tan walls!

Checked out a X2 service video. More involved than any other shock rebuild I've seen plus it requires some special tools.

Interested to hear what direction you go with getting it serviced. I’ll probably follow suit. Thankfully, mine doesn’t need a service yet.

Dave has done rebuild on a Float X2 that had cavitation in the damper (it's from my Calling). He's awesome!

Ha, was gonna say the exact opposite! The proportions look super off to me; just like they slapped a bed on a wrangler...

My riding buddy lives right near there and rode it right after it opened. He said it is GNARLY!!! He is a very good rider with lots of moto time and felt a bit terrified. It's possible that it was a bit green and the trails needed to be worked in some since he was one of the first 50 riders on the trail.

They look really good with bed caps and wedge campers on them cause the square dimensions match up perfectly!

I dont know what else they would do? I think they look silly with stock wheels.

I'd also agree, looks much better with something on the bed. the other thing that throws me for a curve is the third brake light being in the tailgate.

yeah, stock wheels makes it look laughable too. idk what they would do otherwise but at least make the 2nd row look better. there's so much space between the rear door and the back of teh cab. the door also looks....weird. they couldn't make it more square...?

There's a couple in my town with stock wheels (one with a winch) and they look silly.

Someone in my neighbourhood just bought one. Desert colour, 37s, and a SmartCap. Looks sick.

I seriously considered a Gladiator before I bought my truck but the money math did work out as well as the Tacoma... Especially the cost of getting rid of the wussy wheels.

A Gladiator was on my radar when I got rid of my 3rd Gen, but at the end of the day I figured if I was gonna go the Jeep route I’d get a Jeep. Bed wasn’t a big deal to me as I’ve owned three 4Runners in addition to my Tacos and Tundras. Is it as reliable as a Toyota? Probably not. It is a hell of a lot more fun IMO. 2 years, 30K miles, all on 37’s, and not a single issue. I get better gas mileage than my 3rd gen Taco and the ride/comfort is comparable. Off road it’s a champ. Just my 2 cents.
