Born in the 70’s. Don’t have to be a genius to know what’s coming, just been reading. Disc brakes. Turbo, coils. And I’m not complaining. Also the hint to my age was I’ve been driving Toyotas for 30 years

It’s just chit chat my man. Some can’t just scroll past.

I just bought a 2023 mostly because I wanted an MT before the next gen. I could be wrong because there is still some demand, but I'd bet hybrid and EV pressures are signaling the end of 3 pedals.

There are rumors of a RAV4 truck. Probably won't be as off-road capable as a Gen 1 Tacoma.

I think this is a small part of the problem. There are also tons of regulations going into effect that will force manufacturera to make less desirable vehicles. MPG requirements and the "kill switch" is another easy one I can think of.

I guess my personality isnt invested enough in what I drive to give a shit one way or the other. I suspect if you want to see Toyota make something different, quit buying them. But look on the bright side, you may be dead and gone next year, then it wont matter even if it has a 2 cylinder Brigg & Stratton in it.

Personally, if a Ford Ranger lasted as long as a Tacoma, I would have bought a Ranger.

It'd be nice to have a rear defroster.

Let us pray to the Shinto Kami that Toyota doesn’t go the way of planned obsolescence on this next gen. Keep the faith.

You probably should be in the first Gen section if you feel that way. I mean, what they make is dictated by what we buy, and if we didnt fall all over ourselves paying any price to buy what they make, then they would not sell what they make.

    There's skimming and critical reading.

Since I first joined a forum in 2011 when I bought my first motorcycle, I have noticed and also admit to "skimming" early on.

As I've aged (56 yrs old so far and celebrate 57 in June--Lord Willing), I notice some things I use to do early on in 2011.

Arguing with people over trivial things on the internet is a Major Headache. I already have to deal with real human beings at work; don't need it while learning about our Trucks on TW.

I am not thinking about the 4th Gen because I plan on keeping my 2021 Sport DCSB/AT for as long as I'm able to.

Rear drums aren't an issue for me...and I wasn't too disturbed with the Automatic Transmission's quirks. (I didn't really notice it that bad as described on TW)

Toyota is the dumbest successful truck maker. I remember reading articles on new Tundra year after year while they kept everything a secret, when it released, nothing was new, looked the same.

I hope it looks nothing like the new Tundra, I'll think about the Maverick instead.

Whatever it will look like, when I die of old age, it will still look the same.

    Dear Toyota,
Give us the option of the 4.5L I6, or better yet just bring the LC 79 to America so that those of us that want a true truck have an alternative to the plastic ass box of electronic gadgetry mini tundra you intend to push on the masses. Just give us ruggedness, reliability, and utility. Normally aspirated port injection is fine, i don’t mind buying gas.

Engine I4, or V6 would be great. As it is now.
