I kinda went through this last summer when my Taco went in to have the frame schmooed with whale giz.. they gave me a Corolla. I wasn't overly happy about it at first, mainly because the notice from Toyota said that I'd be given a 'similar' vehicle. I guess that a Toyota product was similar enough. I was still happy to have a ride and honestly the 2 days of having the car gave me a bit of appreciation for the car because I was considering buying one. After 2 days I realized that it wouldn't be a good long term car for me. I actually treated it well, filled it with good gas and didn't flog it and didn't make any messes inside of the car. ( spilled coffee, crumbs, ect..)

So basically you'd have a 4Runner? Just saying.. :boink:

Can't do the 4Runner right now. I need a truck for truck stuff...

Getting a trailer and hooking it up is a PITA. I can just load my ass in the truck and head off to the lumber yard. I was considering trading the 3rd gen in for a 4R when I had the 2014 Tacoma, but that truck had issues.

Everything in the garage successfully switched sides for the wife to pull back in on the other side of the garage. Got the door closed and sealed up for the rest of the winter.

I would've if I wasn't able to get it shut and sealed up. But financially it makes sense for me to wait a few months and save up rather than having to do the knee jerk reaction of fixing it right away. I stuffed insulation around it and under it, made sure I disconnected the door opener.

Makes sense. Some have no issue of a sudden $1800 expense, whereas me it's like "well fuck!"

It's okay, but it's under my house. Can't really do too much with it and not put fumes/nasty stuff in the house. I have a 30x25 Quonset hut disconnected from the house, but I have no power/heat access to it in the winter. Hard to work in the dark with no power for tools

I'm fortunate to be in a position currently where I could've had it fixed today if I had to. It wouldn't have been comfortable, kinda like forgetting enough lube, but I could've made it happen. My true back up plan was to cut the door out if necessary, and fill the opening with plywood and foam board to insulate it.

I've got a couple let over from putting up the back wall in the Quonset hut. Nothing extravagant, but still cheaper than a whole door.

I built some shelves out of 3/4" sanded in my garage and damn that was the most expensive shelves I put up ever. o_O My work bench top is left over OSB as I was being cheap. It works quite well though.

Yeah I've just got osb, none of that fancy sanded stuff. My buddy said "hey if you buy the door, between the two of us we can probably install it." Which I totally agree with since it's not a torsion spring setup. But I also had to point out it's 15 degrees out, not 70. Can't really leave the door open for 12 hours while we bumblefuck and figure it out.

Mine was only $225 (was included in the $1800 total cost) to have it installed and the guy did it in less than a couple hours. Plus took all that vinyl soffit I took out of the ceiling. Can't beat that!
