Happy Holidays to y'all! Here with a small update. Just been driving the truck as of late. I installed a new Nardi steering wheel that my parents got me for the Christmas! Pretty stoked on that.

Also in preparation for updating the auxiliary wiring, I added some switches that I'll be wiring up to a new fuse/relay panel that I'll build.

Also did my 500 mile oil change for both the motor and diffs. This oil catch can is working great, and I'm glad this stuff isn't going back into my new engine.

In other exciting news, I've also developed a new grinding/whirling noise from my transfer case that sounds just wonderful. New j shift transfer case is on the way, and I have all new bearings for the crawl box thanks to the guys at Marlin Crawler. Just going to rebuild everything to hopefully solve all future problems so I can start saving up for an Atlas 4 speed if this happens again.

Still planning on doing one last oil change on the motor and diffs before this 1000 miles round trip to Hammertown and back. Also going to have the alignment redone since it pulls and wanders a little on the road. Looks like she needs more caster and a slight toe out from what I'm gather from people I've talked too.

 

What catch can u running?
They're nice to have.

You have to take it off every few years for smog check tho fyi

 

Evil Energy if I remember correctly. I'm glad I kept the hose that goes there if that's the case. I'll runn it by my smog guys in town and see if he'd smog it, but if not I'll just hook that up for a day.

 

Yeah, it's an easy swap to do when the time comes

 

Pulled the t-case out since it's been making a bunch of noise as of recent. Turns out it's worse that what I was expecting. Needle bearing welded itself to the coupler. Ordering parts tomorrow and hopefully putting everything back together next weekend.

I can safely say I'm only fixing this dual case setup one more time because I order an Atlas... presuming it survives long enough to be fixed one more time.

 

Curious if you were able up get the horn to work without the clock spring?

 

No, but I have the part to make it work.

What's needed? Thinking about getting an aftermarket wheel too.

 

You need a copper fitting to contact the back of the hub to complete the circuit. The most common way I've seen people do it is by using the horn shoe from Honda.

Part Number: 35259-SH3-A02

Shouldn't be too hard to wire up once you figure out which wire is the horn.

 

Interesting... Following your built and hopefully you're able to provide detail and which wire it is.

Ouch indeed. Lesson learned is that I need to check the fluid level of my t-case and crawlbox regularly.

 

Was is low? Empty?

 

Wasn't empty but when I drained it there's was maybe a cup of fluid at most that came out.

 

Fudge. Where did it go?

 

No idea. Probably leaked out of the crawlbox somewhere. Definitely making sure everything is sealed up real good before I put it back in the truck.

 

That's a lot of missing gear oil. Did it drain/flow to the tail housing of the transmission before the rf1a adapter?

 

There wasn't a ton of gear oil in the tail housing. Most of the oil that I found was between the t-case and t-case adapter.
