Here is a long but true story for you Carl, it fits in with your breaking up at 7000 rpm
In 1968 I was stationed in Warminster, PA and worked part time at the Mobil across from the base. One afternoon the local police officer (he was the only officer because the town was so small) in Ivyland, PA came in and complained his engine was breaking up at 75MPH  (mind you his police car was also his family car, a '67Chevy Impala wagon with a 327 under the hood). We all looked at him with the when did you do 75 look. Here is his story...
He was sitting in his usual speed trap spot to catch sailors coming back to base either speeding through the 25 mph zone or being drunk. As he was waiting, a flash went by him so he hit the lights and took off in pursuit. He radioed the next township PD and because he couldn't keep up, he hoped they would set up a road block which they did. As the speeding car got to the road block the driver slowed enough to go off the road across someone's lawn then back on the road and was gone...as the cops were all standing there talking about what happened they heard a rumble and here the car comes speeding by with no lights on gives the cops the bird and keeps going:eek:. It was a 67 GTO.
So when we heard the story we sold him an ACCEL tuneup and he was quite happy. Almost 30 years later I working a job with the local cops daughter and when I relayed the story to her she said her dad had suspicions but couldn't prove it that it was her brothers friend and her brother was in the car with him that night...those were the days. Many adventures working in that station :D

    Have a good day all

Carl: I had access to this type of spark plug cleaner when I worked for the Telephone Company. I sure do miss the plug cleaner.

Good morning. Going to the gym this morning. Getting back into a regular routine.

Happy Monday porch pals and gals.

Had colonoscopy #7 on Friday. Looks like you're stuck with me for the foreseeable future. When I had my first at 51 in '08 I had a tumor followed by chemo, radiation and several surgeries. Early detection saves lives...it saved mine.

    Morning all:

 Ken, probably a true story, hey, my dad's the cop, lets mess with him, he won't arrest us!!!! I have heard some similar stories, one involved a Pa state cop getting transferred and the driver of the Olds 442 who he was with being ticketed, apparently the other state cop who stopped them didn't have a sense of humor!

Sounds like you got some very good news Dennis!

It's amazing we survived. The chances we took, the speeds, the racing through traffic. Outrunning the cops... but not the radios. Reckless driving, failure to stop at the command of an officer, exhibition acceleration tickets. Impounded cars and trips to the detention center. Talking the judge out of heavy fines... dealing with parental disapproval...

    It's amazing we survived.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/scofflaws. We got a light coating of snow overnight, enough to make the yard white but not the driveway. I'll take it.

I got a chance to drive a car with adaptive cruise control. I liked it too. The other 'driver aid' stuff, not so much.

I've tried the adaptive CC several times and I hate it. In relatively light traffic it is okay, however, there have been times when some idiot cuts in front of me really close, and even though they are moving well faster than me, the truck momentarily hits the brakes.

    You too!
But officer, the darn throttle stuck!!!!

Amazing how some never even make it even a few days, sometimes less than a few hours, before they crash their new toy because they can't handle the power!

Yeah, don't use the other stuff except the CC

Or when they are turning and there is plenty of room yet the car jams on the brakes :annoyed: but other than that, I love it!!! Can set the cruise for 75 mph and cruise through a town, without having to turn it on and off due to the speed the other drivers are going. It's great going through Atlanta on I20 ;)

As I work my way towards age 70, (4 months from now) I can understand why older people get grouchy! Too much BS to complicate the day when all I am trying to do is relax!

I like adaptive cruise on the highways. My taco is way too aggressive with the braking though, I have to cut the sensitivity way back. My girls Nissan rogue is much smoother in its operation, you barely even notice it unless someone cuts in front of you.
