I have a 2009 Toyota Tacoma that I'm trying to find a backup camera for. My husband has some health issues and I want to be sure I can keep him as safe as possible. I've found a bunch of cameras but I'm so confused about the wireless, some don't come with rear view mirrors, some want to dim and brighten. I just need one that will wire in and turn on in reverse. Anyone know of such a thing? Ty so much

Look at crutchfield.com for options. Depending on what’s already installed, you may need a new radio. If you’re fortunate to know of a trustworthy installer, they could guide you to decide what to get. Trustworthy is an important keyword. If you don’t know of one, post what city you’re in and maybe someone can help there.

I went with a license plate frame camera and a pioneer nex head unit (radio). The dimming brightening isn’t a bad thing. I have mine set for always on, until I change the volume or station, then it goes back to camera after a few seconds.

    Afternoon,
I may be mistaken ( but I don't think I am...) don't all the 2009's have factory installed backup cam's in the tail gate handle?
I have a base model Access Cab, and I had one. I had to install an aftermarket radio to actually use it, but regardless I still had one.

that might be an option for you, its possible to just buy a aftermarket radio with a back up camera capability, or possibly the rearview mirror with the back up camera option. the rear view mirror should be plug and play

I put a wireless one on my 2010. Came with a separate monitor, which was good because I deleted my rear view mirror. @Puppypunter makes it easy with a direct plug and play wire harness for your reverse lights, so you don't have to mess with splicing wires.

My 2 cents is go with this from Costco. Super simple install, can either be solar charged or by USB cable. Mounts to the license plate, 6.8" wide screen. Motion Activated anytime. Can pair another camera to it for front and rear video feeds, independently or both at the same time.

I have one in my Silverado for my front camera. Even though I have a factory backup camera on a 8" screen, the camera in on my tailgate and when it's down it does me no good. I'm adding a second camera for my rear license plate. Holds a charge for long while too.

I should also state that the screen is usb powered, so you can plug it into a USB port or cigarette plug.
