    "Abuse" little dirt scare ya?

Also, @G2.M6 what lots have new trucks sitting without buyers? I currently work for a Toyota dealer and absolutely no one within 1000 miles of us has new trucks "just sitting"

A lot of dirt does when $40,000 is on the line, and this truck has a lot of it

Why are you so mad that people are against buying a worked farm truck that's been heavily wheeled for the same price as a brand new Tacoma? For 98% of people on here it's a no brainer.

Hes arguing the counterpoint. Those of us who have invested in mods see a decent price reduction in a more capable truck than stock and on top of that you get the time savings of having it all done. The tradeoff is wear and tear.

I was wondering the same. People came charging in here like we were disparaging upload's character.

That's the price we pay. My mods have destroyed the resale value of my truck, and add zero value until I take them off and sell individually. Nobody except first-time buyers with rose-tinted glasses and a high interest loan burning a hole through their pocket will buy someone elses fully kitted truck, no matter how nicely done. Those who know prefer to do their own. Those who don't won't understand the value. That has always been the way of the marketplace.

TW users get bent out of shape when Toyota wants to deny warranty work over a dirty/muddy truck (“abused”), then turn around and gripe over a dirty/muddy truck. Depends on who is spending the money I guess.

This is why for ads you make that baby shine.

Nobody is disrespecting the owner of the truck. Seems like a hella of a guy. I personally respect famers a ton! Thank you sir!

Bottom line is - if you mod your truck with aftermarket parts, you will NEVER get that money back. If you mod with OEM parts, you are more likely to get the money back.

So, if advising someone about buying a truck, logically it would be buy new for the same price. Sure, could be some problems - but its under warranty. No brainer.

Sorry there’s dirt in the truck still folks. I live on a gravel road in the boonies. :notsure:

and as far as buying goes. OP. Go with what you want. This truck will sell no matter what. I’m not upside down on loan and I can still use it for what we do now.

If someone is in the market for a used turn key ready truck, it’s possibly a good deal, I’m not sure, that’s why I’m open to offers.

I’m not trying to disprove his point or anything. I know him in the real world. He’s a solid dude and Toyota lover. Hell he celebrates toyotathon over the other holidays.

He should take notice of your demeanor on here. It's like he's having a mini melt down on people and it's not even his truck lol. Weird.

In my earlier post, I said that a heavily modified truck that was wheeled hard was "fraught" with risk. Maybe the term "fraught" was a bit harsh, but suspension and drive train mods do up the used vehicle risk factor a bit. But any used vehicle purchase comes with risk, so it's buyers beware regardless!

PS: I agree with the comments on cleaning the truck up a bit before taking the for sale pictures. I mean, come on man, that's Marketing 101 shit there!

I've kept mine "reasonably stock" for this reason. If I ever wanted to sell it, I could put it mostly back to stock and no one would be the wiser. I've steered away from cutting up the truck too much. I did do a winch from bumper, but it's a subtle one that might even pass for stock-ish to a un-suspecting buyer.

I do agree about OEM parts. I always try to style my vehicles with the "premium" versions (ie, TRD Pro, SVT, Shelby, etc.) I have the TRD Pro everything on my truck except hood and badges.

Apples to apples (i.e. same generational vehicle with similar options), new is a better investment 99% of the time on a vehicle like a truck where the price is very close.
