Yes. Part of this is due to your eyes being naturally drawn to the brightest area of illumination. If that is short range right in front of your vehicle due to poor lighting, we’ll then you end of driving looking there instead of focusing down range.

 

There is science to back it up too. The warmer tones actually allow your pupil to open up more.

My dd came with 5k HID and I swapped to 4300s, so much nicer.

 

Is this for the 63? Which bulbs did you go with?

The bulbs will fade with age. I'm considering replacing the ones in my D2Ss since the ones in there are going on 8 years old. Thinking of going with a set of these:

Interesting. I recall reading this last year but it was good to revisit as I had forgotten about ballast requirements and the possible need to upgrade the wiring harness.

I am still running the ballasts and harness that came in the Morimoto kit. I suppose that might be an issue with the Osram bulbs.

 

One of my lights would intermittently fail to fire so I pulled the trigger on these:

 

The Morimoto ballasts and harness will work fine with the Osram bulbs. You should still get about the same/similar stable performance with the Osrams. The OEM ballast vs Morimoto demonstration was just showing the performance difference in startup with an OEM ballast.

Reasonable basic bulb, but not up to par on performance vs the performance bulbs from Osram and Philips.

 

Got my sliders welded on, a new cb coax cable, welded on some zip tie tabs down the frame and swapped in a cv axle with out torn boots for one that had a torn inner.

Going to try to get all of my welds painted tomorrow. More pictures to follow.

 

Some misc stuff since I've fixed all the big things. Need to do the latches on both sides of the tailgate they're binding up. Hoping I can blow them out and grease rather than replace. Also installed a couple small molle panels on the rear cushion. Will probably build out with more medical gear.

 

Where did you get those mole panels? I’ve been looking for something like that.

 

Some cheapos off Amazon. They are plastic though but fit perfectly around that rear cushion.

Tossed the chrome and white bumper pieces with some black. Also taking advantage of the weather

 

Went from this: to this: Wasn't too bad, just took some contortions to get at all the nuts and bolts and some whacking to release the driveshaft from the transmission. Replaced the U-joint at the front while I was at it. Original part had 145,000 miles on it.

 

Just another alternative to rear storage organization.


I pulled everything out of the back, constructed a back panel and flat deck out of plywood and speaker carpet.

The MOLLE panel was cut down and sewn up and then mounted some stuff to it.

Which style is best for my ‘98? They both have halogen bulbs. The bottom set is like what’s on my sons ‘02, but I don’t know if they are less bright. Right now my 25 year old lights are faded and are like driving with candles lighting my way.

 

I have set of the lower style and I like how they look and they perform fine with a headlight wiring harness and a set of 100w osram bulbs
