My jointer, grizzly 8" long bed that I have upgraded with a Byrd shellix cutter head. I use so much rough sawn lumber that it is indispensible. It goes hand in hand with the planer and table saw.

So the problem with these are that with long lumber, (especially 1.75 dimensional) it’s hard to keep steady pressure and feed the work because of how short the these jointers tables are.

It’s not impossible to get good results, and a solution is easy enough. Ways to help are to use 2 people, or use a decent roller stands for in feed and out feed if you don’t have a dedicated out-feed table.

To clarify, if not supporting the work piece what will happen is you might have a good feed but then the weight of the wood will tip down at the front and the rear won’t joint correctly. It’s basically similar to how you get snipe on a bench planer.

Yea that’s true. I’ve got two rollers, one for front and one for the back. They are super helpful but can be tricky to get it all level. Doesn’t help the floor of my shed isn’t perfectly level either :anonymous:

There's a bigger one at the shop. This one is for practice for smaller pieces to get a feel for it.

My wife's cousin took the tip of his middle finger off putting it into a jointer when he was 12. His reason? He "(w)anted to know what it felt like."

They have baltic birch, and another equal ply plywood. I have ordered plywood twice now from them. Good quality.
