    @WileECoyote I presume so. I am in the same boat - visiting wrecking yards when I was a starving student. I wonder if the entry fee has gone up. Many charged a buck to enter whether you bought something or not. Thus, I always filled my pockets with bulbs and screws and other little shit.

    Yeah, mine was the same. It was like $1 or something like that to enter whether you buy or not, but that was just to enter the yard.

    I'd go in carrying a 5gal bucket of tools, most common tools used, and one would be very surprised you need very little "specialty type tools" in order to dismantle a vehicle.

    HAHAHA, 8mm and 10mm are QUITE the COMMON sizes!!! :rolleyes::laughing::laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl:

    @WileECoyote @Chuy
    So there are both. Lqk or whatever it is, is the new ecology. 2$ pull your own and scan the car you pulled it from. They have an import lot and a domeatic lot. Set prices now on parts (regardless of co condition) from what I recall. Tried getting a rack and rails from a van and they wanted as much as a new one. But a lexus steering wheel was 50$ so... yeah

    The others will let you scour the lots and sometimes pull the part if they are cool with it. But can help you get big stuff or more complex shit if need be. Some are sticklers. Hit or miss.

    Not sure if they still have the "Premium" area where the newer stuff is and the prices are considerably higher.

    Recommendations for a shop to do Automatic Tranny fluid change at 170,000 miles appreciated. I have been using the Truc Shop on Miramar Road but am looking for good alternative shops.

    My kids have gone to camp up on Boulder Creek Road. I didn't realize it turned into a dirt road and went down to the 8 freeway. I will need to check it out.

    new San Diego Taco owner here. Spent some time on the new (to me) truck yesterday and today. New shocks all around. Waiting on parts to do steering rack bushings, sway bar bushings and end links.

    For those of you that have done it - how hard of a job are UCA and LCA bushing replacements? And if doing them, is it generally best to just do tie rods and ball joints at same time? I'm pretty good with 'garage mechanics' and have a decent set of tools, but haven't done control arms on any vehicles before.

    Yes because you are already in there, the truck is a 2003, and 1st gens are known for ball joints going bad
    tie rods sure why not

    I picked up a set of cheap used LCA's, pressed out old LBJ/bushings, pressed in new ones, then swapped onto the truck

    We did the border trail to the start of the PCT yesterday. Not too muddy. Forgot how much more scenic it gets down there after a few storms.

    Also, we checked out Hauser Creek Rd which was recommended in here. Can't remember who did but thanks for rec! We bailed out after a couple of super sketchy tweekers were trashing a cherry red Challenger up and down the trial. Which is bummer, I wanted to see where the trail ends. Oh well, next time.

    Hoping I might have some luck on this thread. Did some research and posted on a couple of local threads but they might be too old and didn't get any replies.

    Does anyone have any good dealers they can recommend for service, preferably in north county? Any specific service writers that I should ask for? I take pretty good care of the truck and do most maintenance on my own, and I would like to do the work on my own but I'll be going in for extended warranty work.

    Thanks in advance.
