I exchanged mine for a new 1 and it still made the noise. Now I have a RAM 1500 and I keep it in the bed of the truck so I can't hear it. The noise originates from the compressor. Inside the compressor housing is a pump that is mounted by 4 springs. I suppose that during driving, the pump hits against the housing. I think that more expensive fridges don't make this noise.

I have a couple of cheap Amazon ones, a Setpower 32qt and a 12 qt Alpicool. They both clunked but you had to be on a pretty rough road to hear them. I suspect all of them do it if the road is rough enough. I can hear them occasionally in my truck, but never hear them in my wifes Subaru Outback. When I do hear it, it's no louder than the sound of bottles clinking in to each other.

My cheapo Amazon fridge makes the same noise. Doesn't affect it at all and it has been THRASHED on hundreds of miles of trails. Keeps temp perfectly!

I'll add that back in September I picked up an ICECO VL45PRO and it does not make any of the aforementioned noises. So far it has about 6k miles on it. But I beleive the cost difference between the VLpro line and the JP is pretty significant.

I would assume that might have something to do with it.

Luck of the draw I guess. Either that or the level of expectation is wildly different.

Just replaced both door, and freezer door seals on my whirlpig refridge. Frigging seals must be made of precious materials for what they now cost.
