Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
The problem with these tires is that their rubber composition does not provide for long life on bare pavement. Which is why with my Michelin Latitude X-Ice I wait until the weather really turns to snow before I'll swap them on.

A 3PMSF rated tire is one that has scored 25% better than the reference tire(Uniroyal Tigerpaw 225/60/16/97); mounted on a specialized test vehicle, in an acceleration test, on medium packed snow.

    Is a 3PMSF all that?:notsure:

As I understand it- 3PMSF is the testing criteria that is used to determine the tires ability to release packed snow and ice from the tread blocks to maintain stability and traction in these conditions. It doesn't have anything to do with the softer compound of the tire that would make it wear faster in warmer weather (like a specialized snow and ice tire i.e. Blizzak). Average overall tread wear is still determined by the manufacturer.
The Michelins might check most of the boxes for you.

After driving on KO2s for 50k, when I needed tires, I bought Kumho AT52s. Don’t notice too many folks mention these. Good so far in Winter. Time will tell how long they last. I drive mostly on pavement with occasional off road hunting excursions.

Defenders are a replacement for previous model (forgot name) and had on Suburban ran well. Wanted more bite with my Tacoma.
Had 2 sets of the Michelin LTX A/T 2s and liked them but after 50k they still had tread left but got "slippery" on hard acceleration on wet surfaces so would change out. Handled many cross-country trips at higher speeds then beat them in AK for several months gravel and rough trails with no problems. Then went to the Wildpeak AT3 and similar to A/T 2 due to price (but recently much higher). Wildpeaks have more sidewall lugs/protection. After 35k like them too and did same types of trips with more offroad and sharp rocks and no damage and highway running 10-12 hours at 75-80 in summer heat. Not sure they will make it past 50k but that's all I run tire sets anyway as I use them hard. \Many opinions out there so read the reviews on the tire sites like Discount and Tire Rack and then determine by use and price (and yes looks as we all know).

I ran the Defenders on my e53 X5- some trails (more than a dirt road, but not really off roading), mostly highway. I thought for an all season with good winter traction, it was a solid choice.

Thanks for all the reply’s. Just out of curiosity, how noisy are the. KO2 tires. That’s a nice looking tire. Probably don’t need it but while I’m looking you never know

As a KO2 owner I can say they make more noise than the OEM (Good Year Kevlars)- It doesn't bother me and I don't hear them at all when the radio is on. I kind of like to hear the tires- It lets me know they're still mounted on the rims
I'm going to make a point that I'm sure will stir the bees...
Just keep in mind- Put the best tire on the vehicle for your needs. If you're going to be on pavement and doing a lot of highway driving - then the Michelin's are a great option. They wear well, they're not noisy, they get good gas mileage and they are stable when making an emergency maneuver. I wouldn't take them rock climbing! That's not what they were designed for. At the end of the day does your new tire of choice check most of the boxes? In the end- There is no "Perfect tire for everything". Get as close as possible!

I had the falken wildpeak at3w in 265/70/17 for my first 50k miles. Loved them so much and when I got my lift and got a set of scs ray10s, I wrapped them in another set of falken wildpeak at3w 285/70/17 E load. Its honestly such a great tire for the price point and it never failed me in any driving conditions.

Well, I went with the Pirille Scorpion AT Plus. Wal-Mart had a sale and they were $156 a tire. Road noise is less than or equal to the stock tires. Thanks again for all the replies.

I have about 40k on my Toyo Open Country AT3, 255/70r17. Once those wear out I will definitely buy them again but will size up to the 265/70r17

They are very quiet on the highway for an AT tire and have excellent winter traction, plus they look good.

No its not. I would venture to say that my KO2s kinda suck in the snow. Sure they bite in and get you moving in some snowy conditions, but the handling seems very sloppy compared to my dedicated blizzaks. Too much sliding around and squirellyness. The blizzaks perform like a scalpel cutting through snow, inspiring much confidence. I run them from December to April.

KO2’s look great but any no where near a 3 peak winter tire. They suck in snow they suck in rain and they dry rot fast. I would chose the general grabber a/t x over them any day. My next tires will be grabber a/t x, Toyo a/t 3, or fallen wild peaks a/t3w

No issues with wandering with my Toyos. What size are you running and on what size rims?
