Careful with "gain locked in", for a sale, you need a buyer. Something like BBBY and close to ITM calls you're probably likely to have a buyer, but for example - DCAC was one I played with, and when I went to sell, sometimes the buyers just weren't there. Even though it was the same as the lasts/they sold for that price eventually, I just didn't have a buyer for a few hours/the next day there.

When there's 60M volume in the 1st hour of trading on any stock you will never, ever have to worry about finding a buyer. lol

 

Fair, BBBY seems WAY less risky in that regard.

Volume for options is a lot different than shares. Open interest is the column to the right of the red box, which is still relatively low, compared to shares, at least.

edit: also this is just me bullshitting, and maybe others who do benefit, get it. I think you're well on top of these things.

 

It's my job to figure out a week ahead of time what stocks are going to do and then fail to take advantage of that knowledge every time.

Buying the Dip on the $UNH $490 call yesterday got me out of the red for that position...now let's see if it can continue it's run to $515 for earnings and make me some $$$

Well the key is to take advantage of 'mini' surges...and make enough $$ that you don't have to time the "Surge" if you can make 20-30% twice a month...on 10% of your holdings...you'll beat the market no mater what it does AND have the $$ to buy at any price without FOMO
