While searching for OEM parts, I see part numbers that are "CANADA SPEC".

Any idea what differentiates them from non Canada spec parts?

Canadian trucks have different gauge clusters, different foglight lenses and bezels, different labeling, and some other safety-related odds and sods, but the balance of the truck is the same. What parts are you after?

    @Jeff Lange

Upon cursory inspection, it appears there are different standards between US and CAN on door retention.

The answer is that it entirely depends on the specific part itself. In some cases it may be the same as a part that is used on US-spec trucks, it just depends on how the packages are defined. Toyota Canada doesn't always include the same features, or has other offerings, etc.

For items like the gauge cluster, it would likely be that it uses km/h as the primary unit instead of MPH. For the keyless entry module, it's likely that not all models in Canada have TPMS, but they all do in the USA. Caution labels will often include English and French instead of just English for Canada spec.

In the past, Canadian models had their own destination in the model code (K), but over the past 20 or so years, more and more Canadian models are instead given the US destination (A), and instead have "CANADA SPEC" packages instead. This is also similar to how grades used to almost always have their own code in the model code, but more and more frequently they will be grouped under a single grade with packages to differentiate them.

This is why for the Tacoma SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, and a couple others are all technically "SR5" grade. There are only two grades for all 2016-2023 Tacomas, SR5 and Limited. All packages fall into those.

As to the original question in this thread, Tacomas don't have a passenger door lock cylinder. That's true in all markets, only the driver's door has a lock cylinder. So not sure what you're looking at?

Thank you for the concise explanation.

    Here's what I'm looking at:

    52E6B81E-F1D5-4214-B248-FB7F4CDC609F_1_201_a.jpg

This on the toyotapartsdeal.com website for the 2016 Toyota Tacoma.

I know Tacomas do not have a passenger door lock cylinder, I'm installing one on my truck. The part exists because they do make RHD Tacomas, do they not?

I’ve not seen a RHD Tacoma. I’ve seen a Hilux?
That’s not to say they weren’t made, but the majority of places with RHD have the Hilux.

Yes, I was referencing the Hilux, not the Tacoma.

The parts you are looking up on that website are for a 2015 Tacoma, despite what it may indicate. Because the 2016 Tacoma was just an update and not actually a new generation internally, the same catalog is used for 2005-2023 Tacomas. The production date for new model years is often in the previous calendar year, so catalogs will often include parts from the previous calendar year in an effort not to miss things when searching without a VIN.

Additionally, no, there are no RHD Tacomas; all are LHD. In other markets the Hilux is sold in both RHD and LHD configurations, but it is not a directly comparable vehicle, especially when it comes to body components.

That doesn’t mean it can’t be done though, I’ll see what I can find.

Okay, so I've looked into this a bit and there are a couple of issues with trying to do this. The first is of course that there's no lock cylinder for the Tacoma, but the second is the fact that the latch inside the door also doesn't have a spot for the lock cylinder to interface with, even if you had one.

69030-47100 is a RH latch that will fit and has a receiver for the lock cylinder, but you need to reuse or order Tacoma control cables/rods for it.

For the lock cylinder itself, I haven't found a direct fit. 69051-0E010 will probably fit the handle frame, but the linkage to the latch is too long. 69051-42210 and 69051-42220 seem to have a similar length linkage, but I am not sure they'd fit the frame.

Honestly, I think your best bet would probably be to try to see if you can modify the LH lock cylinder (69052-04040) to fit into the RH door.

Use this information at your own risk, haha.
