Hey all!! Had an RTT question for those that have one and big dogs.. how do y’all make that work getting them in and out if they won’t use the ladder lol

 

No personal experience, but my friends with an SUV + RTT end up having to carry the dog up the ladder.

 

Our med size dog stayed in the back seat at night. Would let us tuck him in a blanket and he’d stay all night. You could feel when he wound move

 

This worked well, I have since changed set up and I just lift them up from on top of the tailgate into the back, all 3 of us are getting old and don’t like being picked up or doing the picking up.

 

Now it makes sense why RTTs come with 10ft ladders.

 

I have a German shepherd and a GS/malinois. I love taking them camping with me and they do great in a tent. But I have been recently thinking about getting an RTT to put on my bed rack. @Tigger6652 did that fold up or did you have to go carry it up top? Also did you make that?

 

I cut the 2pc’s of plywood to fit inside the latter frame, put two small hinges on the back and some 1x1 on the back to hold it on the steps so it doesn’t move as they go up and down. so it just folds up and toss it in the bed of the truck and unfold it when needed. I did end up painting it and added some grib tape at just above the 1x1 to help when it was wet.

@Deathbysnusnu hes an asshole and it fit perfect lol

 

Though it takes a bit more time to setup, I put the doggo in the annex room. Before that, I just carried all 65 pounds of her up the stairs, but she was athletic enough to jump down with a little help

 

Train it to jump in the tent!

 

Anyone deal with the passenger side cowl leak into the climate system air intake? What was your solution?

 

I've seen this a few times but its not cheap

"Climbing grade carabiners" my a$$. Those are keychain carabiners.

 

Any carabiner is a climbing carabiner. Might only last 1 trip of a lifetime though
