The label on top of the battery says what size it is.

The math says I can buy a few $60 lead acid batteries vs one $300 AGM. But someone other than me has money to burn lol!

As long as it becomes neverstart in under 11 months and 31 days….it says free replacement on it for a year. Might be a pain but there are Walmarts everywhere.

They’re made by Johnson Controls, IIRC, and are perfectly fine by most accounts. At least the upper end Walmart Everstarts are…

Had one going on 4 years now and just starting to show signs of aging. Probably will replace with interstate always had good service from those even though it’s the same battery basically. Overall for the money I’m definitely satisfied with how it’s held up. Truck has sat for up to two weeks in cold weather and it fired right up.

yeah they may say johnsons control but they are made in like 4 different countries. they make the cheap batteries cheap and the expensive battery less so. but at least the cheap ones have a 12 month warranty from Walmart. if you go to a parts store they are 60 bucks with a 30day warranty.

My next battery needs to be one without the tops.

I bought some battery tie downs (I have 2 kinds--one skinny and one not skinny) and overtightened the skinny one and some of the acid leaked out and corroded the skinny tie down. No biggie, I cleaned it up.

What is this $300 battery you guys speak of?

I'm crazy enough to consider it but would look at lower priced batteries first.

I spent $200+ on my wife's replacement battery (The OEM Elantra battery was 5yrs old) and the new one has been great!

That is the main reason I switched to an AGM battery; they don’t leak.

Buy online and get 20% off IIRC. That’s how I did it. Just went to the store to pick it up.

Always read the reviews on any battery you are considering. I haven’t had a battery leak in the past 20 years, I was in my teens/20s last time I remember that happening. Perhaps off-roading, etc that could be a problem, or as someone said overtightened tie-down.

I'm a fan of a good old Duralast flooded wet-cell from Autozone. That is the exact battery my 2nd generation's OEM was. I get about 4-5 years and in Utah it's hard on batteries from hot summers to cold winters. I'm on my 3rd in my 2010. If you WILL check the electrolyte level 2x a year you'll get maximum life out of it. I will never buy a maintenance free battery because they don't last as long as a maintained one that IS maintained. I believe in not overthinking these batteries. They can be changed in 15 minutes and if you have an ODII connector that runs to another 12V battery, you'll never lose any radio or memorized codes. 12VDC+ is the same coming from a lead acid, AGM, or lithium. It's a starting battery which just gets it started and then the alternator kicks in and does the rest.

One more thing: When you buy a battery, bring your volt meter. Get one that is at least 12.5V. If less than that they've been sitting on the shelf sulfating which reduces life.

I don’t off road at all, but my stock battery leaked. Not a gusher, but enough to eat up an aluminum tie down pretty good.

Sure... you go with the Wallymart battery that will die in a year. then buy some more when those leave you stranded and I'll keep my single AGM for 6 more years.

    Buy once...cry once.
