Back in 2010, I looked for over a year for a white 1st gen, V6 TRD, manual with less than 100k miles. The only one that popped up was at NW Motorsport. Walked in, found the first salesman and told them that "the bone sent me". He rolled his eyes as I'm sure he gets it multiple times a day.

Seems weird to me that I paid $15k and could potentially get that back after 13 years.

 

I'd love to have a white one if you are serious.

 

Good grief. No 1st gen is worth 30k. I paid 30 for my 2nd gen... 10 years ago and it had a quarter of the miles of this one. The modifications don't look good on the truck either; 17s don't look good on 1st gens unless you're going bigger than 35s. Also like how they did the lift but didn't correct the excessive positive camber. I had a 98 1st gen regular cab, manual everything, black, with the 2.7 4-liter, it was awesome, but I just do not like this one.

 

Am half serious. In the middle of a move from Central Oregon to Reno and am nowhere near the taco at the moment since I'm traveling. Once things settle down in a few weeks, I'll reach out if it gets more serious. Would rather not have to fly back to pick up the taco and drive it to Reno. I'd let it go for cheaper to someone that I know is going to appreciate it.

Not quite. Starting a new project down there, but keeping the house here in Redmond and I'll be traveling back a few times per month.

I haven't committed to selling the Taco yet. I'd be keeping the GX if I do though. It's not a Taco but "technically" it's still a Toyota. Also, selling the Taco would mean that there's now an empty spot in the stable...

Probably. If (that's a big "if") the 1st gen goes, I'd probably get a second gen, '12-'15. Growing family and 2 dogs that weigh 140lbs-150lbs each makes the 1st gen a bit tough.

 

you dont say. with a fam and big dogs I would be looking to get into tundra...

 

Meh, a second gen feels like twice the size of a first gen to me...

 

Just because it feels that big doesn't mean it is that big. It's still a pretty cramped interior

On a serious note, it does feel that big to me in comparison to a first gen. Shit, just an access cab even feels bigger. I borrowed my brothers dclb second gen for a few weeks and that's what really sold me. The other option would be an 80 series, but it's hard to justify a GX and an LC considering the similarities. Still wanting a truck for the utility (dirt bikes, dump runs etc).

 

When I traded my old Silverado in on the Tacoma, the lack of interior space took awhile to get used to. Idk, but you see it often enough on here on guys selling "new"ish trucks and going to a Tundra for a growing family. I use my truck for truck stuff and consider a full size every single day

 

I think it’s an excuse to get a Tundra.
I test drove a Tundra and a DCLB Taco before I bought my DCSB Taco (all brand new trucks)….and didn’t care for the size of either trucks. One has a bigger cab, and the other a longer bed…but neither worked for me, especially working in downtown seattle at the time.

 

I sold my 4 door long bed 2015 ram diesel and bought my double cab taco…bed and cab shock. Every time I park it or fill it up I love the trade. That being said, my kids are growing but that’s why we have an SUV also…hoping to upgrade from an explorer to a 4runner soon. I miss a lot about the full size rig but don’t regret the Tacoma purchase
