2018 Off Road DCSB Manual here! Had it for about 3 years and I have put in over 50,000 miles on it. Went with a Dobinson's 2 inch lift with 285s and it has been treating me very well. I honestly wouldn't go with the automatic transmission due to all the complaints. The manual transmission solved the gear hunting problem. In terms of engine reliability, it has been fine so far but hard to tell because the 2GR-FKS has only been around since 2015. It might not be as bulletproof as the proven 2nd gen engine. That is just my opinion. I have seen people with 300-400k miles on this forum with no problems. Truck is kinda slow but it's a truck! I can't expect anything lol

I have always had F-150's my whole life so this is my first Tacoma. Had it since July and I absolutely love it.

    Been great so far!
    Has a lot of tech!
Not as easy to work on yourself!
If you’re happy with yours and it’s all good keep it!
Your ride needs to make you enjoy it.
I’m happy with it until I have issues I’d say!CD098C1D-3857-4C45-A0AB-DEB35334C7BD.jpg

If you really look at the big picture on paper the Tacoma is not perfect . What really is ?And who cares . But based on the numbers…. Toyota sells a ton of them. The resale value is always high. They are very reliable .Good looking . Fun to drive
What else do you really need? A heated steering wheel, ,and a bunch of other dumb stuff. Toyota hopefully will keep the same formula and not try to reinvent the wheel.

I had an ‘06 TRD off road that shit the bed (frame rot) last fall, and I just got a new ‘22 TRD Pro. So far I love the new truck overall, but it definitely feels more sluggish than my ‘06 so I will be looking in to one of the tune options. The interior creature comforts and ride quality are light years ahead of my ‘06. The only other gripe I have so far is the resolution of the camera monitors — how could it be so bad on a 2022 vehicle? Base model Hyundais have better back up camera quality than this thing does. It’s like Nintendo 64 graphics.

Also, it’s not awesome that I literally paid almost twice as much for my ‘22 as I did for my ‘06, not correcting for the last 17 years of inflation. Both trucks are/were the top of the line Tacoma for their respective years. I paid about $31k for my ‘06 back in 2005, which is about $45k in todays dollars. I paid about $56k for my ‘22. Is the ‘22 $11k more truck than my ‘06 was? That’s tough to judge. But with factory leather heated and power seats, power moonroof, power rear sliding window, bed lights, fox suspension, factory lift, TRD catback exhaust, LED headlights, and a bunch of other tech I’d say I’m getting a lot for that $11k.

Nope, I live in Utah, but I do spend most of my time in the valleys. I'll be taking my truck up the canyon tomorrow for some skiing, so I guess we'll see.

I don’t have any major complaints from my 3rd Gen other than highway acceleration. It’s not as bad as some people here claim but it’s definitely miles behind my 2008 4.0 PreRunner. Both trucks are on 2” lifts and slightly bigger 265 tires.

I have a 2022 TRD Sport Premium. For the most part I’m happy. Gas mileage sucks. Especially after swapping to Ridge Grapplers. Radio sometimes loses Bluetooth connection randomly. Premium leather looks and feels cheap. Seems more like Softex. Outside of those things I like it.

Almost 3 years of ownership here. Any complaints I have are minor.

    - Soft interior plastics that scratch easier than I’ve ever seen before.
    - Don’t like the drums in the rear.
    - Base stereo sucks (typical)

You will get a lot of complaints about the engine and transmission, but not from me.

I bought my 2017 new in December 2016 with 2 miles on it. It currently has 17k after a little over 6 years, so I can't speak to longevity. :turtleride:

    Two minor issues,
    1. hvac blower wheel stripped out (tsb) and was replaced under warranty.
    2. battery leaked acid and was replaced under warranty. I eventually swapped that one for a 24f agm.

It's been a reliable truck and has come in handy several times for projects around the house, towing small trailers, ect. The more I customize it to fit my needs the more I enjoy it. (lights, stereo, tonneau, exhaust, arb twin).

I don't think I'd buy another one simply, because my 2017 was dirt cheap compared to the newer $40k-$45k 3rd gens and not much has changed over the years. KBB still values it higher than I paid and close to the price of a new one.

For whatever it's worth, I enjoyed my 2017 and 2020 4Runners a bit more for road trips, but they weren't perfect for my needs either. I'll likely get another daily vehicle this year and keep the tacoma for truck needs.

Bought new in August of 2018 and it's pushing 80,000 flawless miles. Except for the occasional mandatory recall, I can state that it's been the best puck-up I've ever owned (this one's #8) over the years. The secret to enjoyment, however, happens when you tune.

My 2021 sport long bed is a keeper. Before this truck I used to trade vehicles every 3 years or so, but I am approaching retirement so this truck needs to be paid off before that happens. I've done a lot of smaller things (not all of which were inexpensive lol) to make this truck my own and set myself up for the long haul. The KDMax tune fixed the one main complaint I had about the truck, which we all know. Given the build quality and reliability I'm looking forward to lots and lots of miles.

I have mentioned before over and over that I love all of my Tacomas over the years, 93,98,2003,2008 and 2021 and never had issues with these trucks. I hear the word TUNE a lot around here but never heard it before till this 3rd Generation. My new Sport runs, drives better than all the others so still not sure about this tune shit. This will probably be my last Tacoma if I live long enough lol. I am 72 so only time will tell but I will go with a Toyota Tacoma smile on my face. just saying
