I was thinking of painting my base black fender flares to match my truck (silver streak mica) and was curious if anyone had any pictures of this done. The reason is, I was wanting to keep my front bumper black, and I can't decide if having the front flares completely painted or un-painted will look goofy (the seperate piece of the flare on the bumper.) I want the non-goofy option..... I hope this is understandable.. Thanks guys

hhmmm tuff call... I took my fenders off because I didnt like the black. But I also got after market bumpers.

I would leave them black if you are going to keep the stock bumpers black. But it may actually look really good if only the fenders were painted - I never seen it. :notsure:

Yea, black is bitchin. Specially since they stick out so far (with stock spacing) great for hitting parking posts and shopping carts.

Mine aren't scratched yet, but on my old one with black flares I'd just rest the shopping cart on the flares to keep it from rolling on a hilly parking lot. Don't feel comfortable doing that on my sissy painted ones.

I'm just tryin to even out this black plastic crap. I think I'm just gonna go with painting the front bumper silver instead, and leaving the lower valence black. I have a feeling the painted fenders are gonna look stupid

Personally I think the only good looking silver trucks are the ones with the black bumpers and fenders flares... but that's just me, you do what you gotta do bub.

You will need to do significant sanding and prep to get the surface smooth before painting.

Also, unfortunately you have the worst color in the world to do any painting. The new silver flares, even if they come out perfect, will not match your truck.

It is very difficult to match silver, and it is a very difficult color to paint and not get tiger striping.

The reason for this is because silver has virtually no pigment and is mostly metallic flakes.

I would proceed with caution on painting any part of the truck.

It is doable with appropriate prep and care but it will be a big challenge with a risk of it not matching.

I know the color match woes. Im installing bushwackers and they dont match the other black trim. Ill prob just rattle can all the black to match.
