Morning everyone

 

There's that fear that it might crack the glass cooktop. My grandson is rather rough when he cooks. At least he cooks for himself, for which I am happy. That's why we stay away from it.

About 10 years ago, I had a glass topped electric stove. I cooked with my cast iron skillet on it at least 5 - 7 times every week for 3 years. It can scuff the surface, but unless it gets dropped hard onto the stove top, I don't think it will crack it. But of course as adults we know to be careful, a child or young adult may not be as mindful without a gentle warning (I don't know how old your grandson is)

 

He's 14 and always seems to be in a hurry, with whatever he does.

I hate those "smooth top stoves". Heating elements go off & on constantly.
Give me a regular coil type or gas anyday.

 

Morning 50's. Low fuel light was on in the Camry. Filled her up on the way to work, 29 MPG. I'll take that over the 15MPG the Tundra gets. Happy Friday.

I have a butane burner kit I purchased from the asian market because they work great and the fuel doesn't go bad. Nice emergency burner to have around especially with high heat. That's my backup for when the shtf!

Got a tad bit of snow overnight, just enough for slick roads.

 

The wife did not want a stove. We have our cooktop within a long cabinet with lots of counter space and a large storage area under the cooktop. They look more appealing than those coils. I don't know if they sell the coils in a cooktop fashion, but I know the wife would veto it.
