I agree, could of been a lot worse!

So this is where is stands as of now. A little black detail spray and a rubber mallet. The sheet metal is accessible in the damage area so I was able to swing on it a bit. Luckily, the clear coat took most of the hit regarding the paint. Looks better but still sucks. I'll work on it more later.

Trail damage is easier to swallow than this bullshit. Humans suck.

Another PLUS for 2nd gen steel bumpers. That would be at least $4k damage with a 3rd gen bumper. Sorry it happened but you were mostly lucky. Bet the offender has more damage and has the shame of telling his MAMA what he did to her car.

Honestly this little 2.0 has been a great car. In 26 months this has been the only issue. If your girl has a 1.6 engine then 2 months isn't fast enough. That, and the newer 1.5, are the worst engines Ford ever built. My wife bought a new one in 2016 and, with 45k miles on the 2.5, it has been trouble free (KNOCKING ON WOOD). I cannot complain with the 2013 except for this recent issue. I just got damn lucky on this one because I know 75% of all 2013's were trouble. I combed thru the owners records and carfax before I bought it and I got one of the rare good ones. Now after 70k miles I know when it is time to let it go. Like NOW.

I think it is a 1.6 :anonymous: We are moving April first so it has to last a little longer but it can't come soon enough. She only drives like 4 miles a week. She works from home so only driving is grocery store and other short runs. I am just crossing my fingers it is good with no CEL when we go to sell. Like I said it only comes on when she starts it.

If she is trading it would be wise to tow it with the Taco one block uphill from the dealer. Then she can coast to the dealer lot. I feel for her. Those engines were really bad designs where coolant gets into the engine block. My non-mechanical brother recently bought a used 2020 with the 1.5 liter 3 cylinder and boasted about how much newer it is than mine. Why he bought a 3 cyl is unknown. Complained about engine noise the 1st week. My 2.0 is reliable and more powerful than my 3rd gen 3.5 Taco. So much so that it finalized my decision to sell the 3rd gen and go back to a 2nd gen. As good as the 2.0 has been I wouldn't trust it at say 75k or 80k miles. That's the thing about most Fords. They are great for a limited time. You just need to be aware of that limit.

I got in the parts to replace my front wheel bearings yesterday since the drivers side has been upset and groaning. I pressed the hubs and bearings together this afternoon ready for installation this weekend. It's nice to have the right tools for the job. Makes things so much easier and less stressful.

Last March I turned mine into an over stuffed burrito. The camper weighs 400lbs less than a FWC fleet..obv no longer a daily driver, and can’t crawl as she used to but we are more prepared for longer trips. The dogs like it much more than the flippac. That looks great. Is that custom or who makes it? Also who makes that front bumper?

Drove to pick up a minty 1st gen with my bro. He's been looking for a 1st gen tacoma for a while. Most crew cab 4x4 were out of his price range, too far (out of state) or need a lot of work. Came across this 2 owner that both PO's took great care inside and out, even the bay is clean. He's going to replace those ugly wheels with a stock set. Not 4x4 but has the e-locker and its supercharged from the dealer. It's going to stay stock. Peep old faithful in the back.

get some denatured alcohol should buff off most of that paint transfer. used it for years heck purchased a few cars that the prior owner had had smaller paint transfer, and was able to buff off.

and i see the fix looks pretty dang good

oh man makes me miss my 1st gen, except mine was red, hated that part but the price I paid, with an absolutely amazing set of records. sold it to an EX-girlfriend who still has it saw her driving it leaving a coffee shop we both love closer to now all these years later.
