The mechanical parts are still mechanical like on your old Yukon. There are more electronics, sure, but you can still do a lot of repairs beyond plugs and filters.

I hope you are right, time will tell. With the exception of lacking tech knowledge and special tools maybe I can do a lot of repairs myself that I’m used to doing. The electronic technology scares me a bit but as I get more familiar with the truck, hopefully that will improve.

I turned off a bunch of that stuff too because the Toyota systems just aren’t that good compared to other manufacturers. However, BSM is just a little light that goes off to help out, no reason to turn it off. The pre-collision system and traction control are way, way better than you at keeping the vehicle under control and stopping in emergency situations so no reason to have those off. If you drive in snow/ice ever you will need to activate the Auto LSD function or you’ll just sit and spin at the stoplight. The radar cruise is actually pretty good in the Tacoma.

i turned off LDA the first day i got my truck and, honestly, forgot it even existed. i still use traction control/stability control for normal driving. sometimes i use the automatic high beams when I'm tired but i do like the ability to flash people who refuse to turn their high beams off so I turn it off sometimes. I have no blind spot monitor except for my eyes. going to see if I can turn off the seatbelt chime with my new bidirectional scan tool today.

Auto high beam. I live in a pretty high traffic area and don't need high beam.

I turned off the phone charger pad but, after I got my new mini i13, I hunted that switch button down up under that dash and turned that thingy back on. There is another switch in the spot where the phone charger accessory switch thing was before. I'll have to go out there and see what I put in in it's place after some more coffee.

Um....nothing. Not only do I use all the options that came with the truck, I actually toggle all of the switches depending on the situation. Example, BSM and parking sensors get turned off when towing trailers, Auto-high beams I leave off by default but will sometimes activate on less populated backcountry roads.

I paid for this buffet, by gar' I'm gonna get my money's worth out of it!

Me too, although this thread is making me want to trade my 2017 for a 2023, and then turn it all off...

I went with the Tacoma because it doesn't have that much tech. Actually not much more than the fully optioned out 2011 Titan I replaced it with.
