That will be a edge grain board. If after gluing in that direction, you would slice across the glued plane, fip them up, and reglue to make a end grain board. They are very difficult to deal with.

Edge grain boards are 90% of what is made. You are 100% on track. Work on edge grain boards for a while.
The skills give a solid base to build from.

Have you ever watched 3x3 woodworking on youtube?
Tamar is very good at jigs and making things work with neat simple jigs.

Rob Cosman is a really good teacher.

The biggest jump in quality of work came with a quality table saw, quality blades, and a biesemeyer style fence.

I'm assuming your asking me. Yes I have watched Tamar at the recommendation of someone else on here. She's great!

I'm incredibly fortunate to have access to tons of quality tools. :)

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I have one of his dovetail saws. It's incredible and I love when I get a chance to use it.

Reading some of my books about types of wood today. :woot:

Sycamore is one of my favorite trees. Anyone ever used any in any projects? What kind and how does it handle?

Also pondering what kind might be best for making a desktop easel. Hardwood, but lighter weight so it's easily movable for the user. Red oak is suggested. :notsure:

    i havent used sycamore.
what size easel? Theres a premium pine at lowes and home depot. Its a little denser than yellow pine but more expensive. Or redwood (not redoak) in decking.

I was thinking this kinda design. Probly under 2' so it will fit on the desk I just built. :)
