Does anyone in the East Tennessee area know of good high elevation roads where I can take go on an adventure with tomorrow with my daughter? She's 7 and I told her it was going to snow in the mountains so we are going to try to find a place to play in the snow. Not looking for any extreme or really off-road trails. Just something to get up to higher elevations with more snow. It looks like 441 going up to Newfound Gap is closed so that's not an option. I'm considering going on the road up to Max Patch. Any other ideas?

I’m thinking about Cherohala Skyway but the I remember that my wife had surgery yesterday so I should stay home and take care of her.

If you do head to Cherohala I highly recommend the Cherohala Cafe in Tellico, great food.

I had a friend up in Gatlinburg tonight and he said they haven’t gotten much snow at that elevation. The forecast is calling for much more snow at 3,000 ft. and higher. I’ll check the live web cams in the morning for Gatlinburg and see what it looks like. Thanks for the suggestion!

I don’t know anywhere other than the mountains if you are looking for snow.
You might get lucky and get into some snow in Morristown at Panther Creek?

Yeah staying home might be the right call! Good idea on Cherohala. I haven’t been that direction before. I’ll try to snap some pictures if I make it that way.

    Thanks for the tip!

I just realized that I called the restaurant by the wrong name. It’s actually called the Tellicafe.

I did! We ended up going to Max Patch. I figured Cherohala had snow but was more confident Max Patch definitely did. There was probably about 10” of snow up there. This was my first time taking my truck on snowy roads and it handled awesome. I was a little concerned with how the non-AT tires would do but they handled like a champ! On the way down the road we came up was blocked with cars

Looks like a great time! I’ve never been up there before but maybe someday. I tend to gravitate toward the Monroe county portion of the CNF as it’s closer to me by a little bit.

Nice truck. Glad it did well. As for the cars, “a man has to know his limitations “

There’s so much out there in this area. I’m hoping to broaden my horizons and hit some areas I haven’t been. Like you, I stay to the stuff close to me. It’s tough with kids to get them excited about being in the car for a few hours when closer stuff is available.
