I am looking at Scout YOHO campers but wondering what others might suggest looking into as alternative cost effective options. I disperse camp in the summers and spend my winter weekends at various ski resorts. So I’m looking for something that doesn’t pop up to keep snow from accumulating and something relatively air tight to keep condensation down. I don’t need anything fancy with bells and whistles (e.g stove, sink, etc) since I have a lot of that in my camping gear.

Check out Kimbo campers, based in Bellingham WA. Built with skiers in mind

Also the search bar in here is kinda weak, try googling camper related questions with "tacomaworld" in it. Lots of threads will pop up

My Scout Yoho has been a thrill. It felt like there's plenty of improvement possible in thermal insulation, maybe due to the open cabinets and imperfect weather stripping at the door. Just don't expect a thermal box. The water system, fridge, furnace, solar + battery, windows, lighting and interior design are spectacular. I'm especially fond of switching out the swivel table for a larger bench. And the camper jacks are flawless. The stove is janky and bulky, so I might substitute a Cook Partner single burner.

How did you set up your suspension (airbags? other?). I am very interested in setting up a camper on mine as well. Will that model work in a shortbed?

Timbren bump stops were woefully inadequate, so I took the plunge by upgrading to Deaver Stage 3 leaf pack with 4 Toytec Boss 2.5 Aluma shocks with Camburg control arm, and re-installed the anti sway bar that prior owner took out.
On a short bed, even the small Yoho would be inferior to using the 6-foot long bed. The reason is center of gravity relative to the wheelbase. Plus, it's real nice locking the thing behind the tailgate.

Air tight is gonna do the opposite of keeping the condensation down. Need air flow to keep the moisture of the camper continually moving out and dryer air coming in. Our breathe and cooking on propane in a Yoho are the 2 top creators of condensation.

We went Yoho from an AT Habitat to move away from Tent material, and to hard walls. Didn't want the popup of a FWC. And no offense to the Kimbo folks, but I just can't stand the look of it. No doubt it's a very well built camper, probably head and shoulders above the Yoho for build quality.

I started a Yoho thread on TW, but it's not too active, lol (link in signature, right of the picture). If you want more info on the Yoho, and you have Facebook, join the Scout Campers Owners FB group, it's very active. I'm one of the admins on there.

Drop the stove in the camper if you need more space. Makes a massive difference.

Also, if you go to the Cook Partner, it is a high pressure stove so it's not compatible with the current low pressure Propane system in the Scout. You'd need to hook it to a separate propane source, or re-pipe the stove's propane line to between the Tank and the campers regulator.

With the Deaver U402 Stage 3 leaf pack I haven't had any issue with the Yoho and the Short Bed Tacoma. My first trip with it was from the Seattle area through Utah, down to Vegas, and back home with the load below. My truck has been re-geared though, from 3.73 to 4.56.
