    Sorry got distracted.

Prognosis is self inflicted since I'm somewhat of an expert in this (this is the worst incident, but the third time ive specifically drilled into my hands in the past 20yrs not including all the other clumsy work/life accident types:laughing:)

I hamburgeralized my palm flesh but didn't sever a tendon. Finger is still swollen but have full range of motion. Since Dec 11 the nerve damage has gone from not feeling the entire left pointer, half my middle finger, half my thumb, and 1/3 my palm in that region.. to now just my pointer being mostly dead on the tip and left side, I've adapted and learned to work 4 fingers since the pointer is so useless (and is probably just still healing)

20230110_143053.jpg(I literally don't use it all in my dirty line of work )

Not going to give you shit other than to suggest having it checked. Something like that can definitely do some damage. Last thing you want is for tissue to become infected and have shit go south from there. Good news its been what, nearly a month?

Just thinking about a drill eating into my palm makes me cringe. I've tweaked my back at work, I've walked full bore into a low hanging cabinet and knocked myself flat on the ass. Never maimed myself though. FFS. OUCH.

First time I ever did it I caught the edge of the webbing between pointer and thumb on my right hand. Second time I buried a drill 3/4 of an inch diagonally through only the meat of my left thumb pad. This time was definitely the worst, thankfully it was a brand new bit so it was so sharp, even though it went deeper than the one in my thumb, it damaged less total tissue. Being in such a centralized location, it definitely severed more nerve endings though

When I turned 18 I was drunkenly playing catch in my backyard with a buddy using a light bulb. I caught it and squeezed too hard in the catch and it exploded, severed the entirety of my right ring finger. I had insurance with that job and went to the hospital, did the whole nine yards with "extreme localized nerve damage"

The missus wanted to take me to the hospital (she works with me) but I convinced her to doctor it since she's medically trained and I already knew all the steps. Only thing I didn't know (since I don't have an xtay machine at work yet) was if we scrubbed it well enough to get all shards out... I figured we both knew what the start of infection/sepsis looks like and played it ultra high alert for 2 wks

The hill I'll die on "I'd rather attempt to doctor myself and become a newspaper article headline with my death, than pay for a broken medical system"
