If you want to make it easier on yourself when you do bottom out look at upgrading your bump stops. Check out Wheelers super bumps for front and back, or Durobumps.
Stock bump stops are like hockey pucks, really hard.

intake mods, firestone airbags, campershell, backup lights,
the rear springs are designed for a soft ride not for a load. On my old truck ( 2008 ) the was a rear spring toyota fix when everyone complained.
The dealer would add a leaf and put of different shocks. On my 3rd gen the springs came with the additional leaf. Put firestone airbags just
adjust the pressure depending on the load.

Does anyone here have wheeler superbumps for the front? Would they work fine for a stock 2021 tacoma or are the better for ones with a lift? I don’t want to loose up travel for my stock taco.

I too am curious about this. Wondering if suspension and max load is somehow different on different trim levels not by sticker but by design.
I have a 22 SR5 and last week had 25 40lb wood pellet bags in the bed. Friends house was 35 miles from Lowe’s and 10 of it was on a forest service road with ruts rocks holes drain pipe depressions the works and I never bottomed out. I also had him 220lbs, me at 238, full tank of gas, and all my gear in rear seat area, 4 rifles, 5 handguns, 8 ammo cans full of ammo, 8 gallons of water, and 6 paper bags of groceries. Didn’t bottom out and to be honest didn’t even know the bags were in the back. I’ve never had any transmission shifting issues and the truck accelerated like normal.

My wife commented the other day that when I got onto the open tailgate that the truck didn’t even move. Puzzling.

OME-005 Heavy kit that included the heavy Dakar rear leafs changed the game for me. Loaded Decked drawers + Loaded Leitner gear pods + towing though. It take ls some serious stuff for me to hit the bump stops though.

Stock Tacos are mall crawler squishy b/c, sadly, the majority of Tacomas are used as pavement stompers.

I have them front and rear. You will be fine with them on a stock truck. If I was to buy a new Tacoma, it would be one of the first couple mods I'd do.

So with this: do I keep my stock front bump stop in? Videos show the removal but the description of this says to keep it. “Please note: The front lower control arms on these vehicles have two bumpstop locations (forward and rear). Our Superbump Bumpstops mount in the rear location of the control arms. The OEM bumpstop should remain in the front location to assist with harder hits or bottom-outs.”

I had the same issue with my 2022- wife, 6 year old + cooler in the bed and bottomed out on a minor dip on the highway.

Do yourself a favor and upgrade to new suspension all around. New leaf pack is well worth it vs an add a leaf (even the 3 leaf add a leaf). Icon, old man emu, alcan etc are good leaf spring options and will handle weight much better than stock, and ride smoother overall. Timbren or wheelers bump stops also help harsh bottom outs.
