This was yesterday evening; I have unintentionally kicked a hornet's nest here. This girl Emily who I went to high school with is one of Amanda's roommates; Emily called me some unkind names, threatened to vandalize my truck, and told Amanda not to tell me. Amanda actually has morals, so she texted me this screenshot (now removed); Emily is mad at me because Amanda wants to be independent from this group and I have put her in contact with the right people to make this happen.

Also, Emily unfortunately knows where I live from when we were still friends, so guess whose name I'm giving to the police if my truck is mysteriously vandalized?!?!

Having serious second thoughts about dating Amanda, but as someone with a conscience, I really want to see her get out of the situation she's in.

 

My friend Doug tried to tell me about Schrödinger's cat back in 2012, and just to be a wiseass, I asked him "Is he the piano-playing kid from Charlie Brown?"

 

Emily sounds nuts, people that give an ultimatum are controlling...

 

I've never watched that show, or Jersey Shore, or any of that bullshit, but yeah...

All my TacomaWorld bros can rest assured that while I want to see this girl get out of this fucked up situation she's in, I merely put her in contact with people I know who are qualified to help and can further put her in touch with the proper resources. I refuse to go anywhere near her current living situation, because I'm afraid for my own safety if I go near her housemates...

 

@PennSilverTaco I recommend you go watch Jersey Shore. The drama in there will knock some sense into you

 

I've known Emily since 2006, when we were both seniors in high school. She was always a bit annoying, but never violent. I have not seen Emily since 2016, and Amanda said that Emily started changing just before COVID. We think she has been influenced by the other people she lives with. She also routinely uses racial slurs in casual conversation, which is rather disturbing to me...

 

I am a huge fan of The Sopranos, and I have watched the entire 86-episode series at least three times; I still love the show, but I've seen The Many Saints of Newark and actually visited the Soprano house in Caldwell, New Jersey.

Needless to say, while I still love the show and mob movies in general, I'm a bit Soprano'd out for the time being...

However, I would rewatch the entire series again before watching even one episode of Jersey Shore.

 

Last April, I drove up to North Jersey and visited Tony Soprano's house...

 

And Johnny Sack's house...

 

And Livia Soprano's house...

 

In my honest opinion, I think that Amanda has intertwined herself too much with these assholes, and while she wants to get out of it I don't think she will be able to in this lifetime. It's a really shitty situation all around...

 

Yeah that sounds like too much drama.

 

What do you think I'm doing? I feel obligated to maintain contact with Amanda, but I've made it clear that I want nothing to do with her so-called friends; Amanda doesn't even know my address, which is how it's likely going to stay. If I do have to sever ties with her, my friend who works in the mental health field assured me that I won't be in any legal trouble if somebody attempted suicide as a result of that.
