Finally got around to installing the Switch Pros. Cleaned up the rats nest and really happy with how it turned out. Wish I would have done this sooner ha.

speaking of the OEM cover, I live in Oregon and drive to Mt. Hood to ski almost every weekend. Love everything about my truck, but a lot of water and grime (gravel and de-icer) gets into the bed this time of year.

I’m considering upgrading to the Bakflip MX4 tonneau, which allows you to run water channels out of the bed. Curious how people have done with that.

Also looking for a way to seal my tailgate where all the gravel and de-icer gets in during winter. Trick here is that I need to be able to slide the bike rack straps under there in summer.

Prinsu rack today..... next install is an IMS Suspension kit from Dobinsons. I also got a kbvoodoo bed rack recently, but had such a horrible experience with support, I decided to melt it down.

I was going to also use it for a spare tire, but decided not to, so I added a basic Jerry can holder, custom made table (used old computer case sheet metal) for my 2-burner stove, and a mount for a 2.5 gal propane tank (removable with locks for travel) on my RID’d swingout. Also added basic grips for tools, umbrella, etc.

*that’s not the typical shovel I’d use and there are some straps to hold the tank and Jerry can in- they’re just not shown.

Inspected air cabin filter, time sure does fly when you have to change these filters.

Looking at this picture of my air door damper I see a little bump in the damper flapper thingy, I'm thinking this should lay perfectly flat against the frame and do any of you guys have a picture of the similar item in your glove box?

my truck down payment was $15k...

the first trick is to have something of value you don't need anymore.

second trick is to spend less than you make and save the rest! this is a lot harder...

Poor Man's upgrades on 2023 Utility, flares, black wheel covers (made in Taiwan). Trying to find blacked lights fixtures. Gotta get my search words correct. I'm going with a storm trooper theme.

I have MBRP dual and love it. I also painted it with black high temp paint to keep the surface rust off.

I have the Bakflip MX4 and also live where we get lots of road gunk. Unfortunately I injured myself and haven't been driving much or parking in the snow like normal so I can only give you partial information and haven't really put it to the test. .
Overall, it fits really well if you install it correctly and I haven't gotten much water in, even at the car wash. Only at the corners.
First I tried it without the drain tubes and the water just ran to the front and pooled on the wheel wells. Since I put in the drain tubes that hasn't happened. I used the brass hose adapters and just 'plugged' them into the bed drain holes; sorry, I don't remember the size. Others drill a hole in the side of the bed and run them out that way. Since I added a bed mat I just tuck them under the edge.
There is still some minor leakage at the corners, more by the tailgate. I used the foam weather stripping that came with the MX4 (it wasn't needed for the install) to seal the rear part and then a thinner weather stripping on the tailgate. I used some of the thinner weather stripping at the front of the bed too. See this post for pics: https://www.tacomaworld.com/posts/28173756/
Since doing that extra weather stripping I've had nothing get in the bed but I also haven't been out driving in bad conditions with only one usable arm. I've never had anything come up from between the tailgate and the bottom of the bed.
The MX4 came with some small bumpers but no instructions where to put them. Bakflip sent me a picture and I could tell from that that they had added some caulk at the front of the bed. So take that as a hint also that the corners need a little help.

Just a few interior cosmetic additions with the vent rings, control knobs, red trim, and glove box inlays. Tasteful and not too gaudy, i think... also installed the smoked turn signal lenses on the side mirrors. Was going to do some relatively cheap smoked tail light lenses too, but read a bunch of nightmare reviews about major electrical problems arising, so I decided to forego that upgrade until I can afford the nice ones.

Not in the picture is the TRD Pro shift knob that I put on today as well

Next week, I'm installing side steps. 20230114_144137.jpg 20230114_144159.jpg

So today I decided to do something about the glare I get off the hood bulge at times. Quite chilly out so did it in the garage so the pic isn't the greatest. Wife is out of town so it gave me a chance to do a few things I've been meaning to do. While I was in the mood to put vinyl on things, I wrapped my new to me Air 2S :D
