Man I wish I could work out and go to the gym, both of my shoulders are so tore up that it's difficult to just raise my arms sometimes. I really can't afford to take the time off from work, hoping I make it to retirement before I have to do the surgery.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Rex and I made it to the recycling center, made some $$, and got a new license to sell miscellaneous junk. Mine had expired. It's free, and takes 2 minutes. That was all for the day - nice drive in the wind. Might, might do some more yardwork cleanup. That's all that's really on the agenda. Not ready to start anything new.

Good afternoon all, I hope your day is going well. Funny (at least now) story. I got a call from the owner of a bunch of preschools I've been doing handyman work for. Her father lives in an apartment building she owns. She said a toilet in the apartment won't flush. Of course "won't flush" means that the tank has an issue like a flapper chain, handle, or some water supply issue. Hell no! It wasn't a tank issue. It had a clog from hell. I can't even begin to describe what was sitting in the bowl and wouldn't go down. Of course I took the plunger and filled it up with water before I gave it a strong, quick shove. Let's just say that the clog went down and Satan's death juice was all over my shirt and pants. The renter asked me what it was that clogged the toilet. I told him my investigation ended there I didn't want to find out. I immediately drove home, took a shower, threw my clothes in the wash on heavy duty and extra rinse. The owner got charged for the shower time also!

I like doing this part-time handyman stuff in retirement but sometimes it's just disgusting. :puke:

    Evening all:

Hate when that happens Bryan, makes it that much worse when it's not yours! :puke:
You should contact Mike Rowe next time, that would make good TV footage and he would be the one to get the juice shower!

Good morning fellow Porchatonians!! Dealing with continued internet and phone issues made worse by all this rain. I can barely maintain the connection for a minute or two and can't call out - reported to Frontier on the 28th of December....my service appointment is on Monday January 16th. Ugh.

At least I can catch up on my reading.

Greg: I am in Physical Therapy for my right shoulder, a tendon problem. You should get a referral from your doc for PT. My shoulder is getting better.

My wife had Retina surgery about 2 years ago. It is a complicated process and the person having the surgery has a lot to do, some of which are uncomfortable. Made my cataract surgery look like a walk in the park.

Hats off to you, sir! :hattip: I thought about doing a handy man gig but never really took the time to investigate what I needed to do. Between my two sisters, nieces and nephews I stay busy being their handyman. ;)

Mark: One of my last jobs for the company I worked for was communications bill reconciliation. An armpit job my bosses boss used to try and get me to quit. I can tell you that from a billing standpoint Frontier Communications was one of the worst CLEC's I had to deal with. Cancelling service or getting a credit from them was a four to six-month process. The process should only take two months for each request. To put things in perspective the AT&T toll free invoice was 4 boxed of paper each month. Each box was 8X11X12.

Good morning, everyone. Happy Saturday. :bananadance::bananadance::cheers::cheers::broccoli::broccoli: Not much to do today. Put the bench back together and pull a pork roast out of the freezer for my son to take pulled pork into work next Wednesday.

Mark: Sorry to read your post. I am surprised your state Public Utilities Commission let them get out of the copper service provider responsibilities.

Tell us about your internet connection. I’m curious on what type of connection you have. Is it fiber, co-ax cable, dsl copper pair, satellite, microwave antenna, cell provider or what? Are you sharing TV on the same method as your internet and does that work fine? Just curious. I hope you can get it solved.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! 28* overnight, and 55* now. 80* tomorrow afternoon. From these numbers, we define the average!! Got an errand, maybe try a different tool on some frozen banana and canna, watch games and make Philly's. Don't want to overdo!

We live on a farm road - our realistic internet choices are copper-wire DSL through our phone line or satellite at this point. Just don't want to deal with the cost/latency/weather impact of satellite. Cell signal is not very strong. Our house is positioned so it's well below any microwave signal in our area. We've opted to stay with the DSL. Unfortunately we are at the 3.2 mile point of the line, the last house, so our speeds are notoriously slow at any time. Upload never exceeds 600Kb, download sometimes hits 3mb or so. Our phone line has a humm of it which appears to also be kicking off the DSL service. Rain has made it worse in the last few weeks - didn't used to be an issue. TV is through Direct satellite and we use the DSL for (slow) streaming.

We haven't had working copper phone lines for many years. ATT refuses to service them. Based on that, I wouldn't use them again even if I could. We use HughesNet for internet and a voip phone. It's been trouble free for years, and it's faster than it used to be. Not much else available out here. Cell towers can't penetrate hills covered with old growth trees.
Our electric co-op said a year ago they were going to string fiber in the eastern and western areas of their service territory... that's us! They made a big deal about it, had open meetings about it, propaganda on their website, whole 9 yards. I'm sure they've collected the free money from the state to do it, but so far nothing. BUT they have it in their brand-new building about a mile from here.

Starlink needs a better dish locater app. It says "find a better location" anywhere I try it, even in full open sky, so I guess there isn't one. Could be not enough customers around here to make it worthwhile. Big upfront cost only to find out too many trees, hills, whatever. I'm glad it works in Ukraine, but It doesn't work here. You CAN send it back for a refund, but they want it back before 30 days from when they shipped it. Not much time, if you find you need some proprietary fitting, or something. Basically, it can't feasibly be done here, so no thanks. What they need, is a better dish locater app. The current one has been through numerous changes, but no help. I figure this sparsely populated area just isn't priority, even though Elon said early on, "get it out to the people who need it" was the whole point. We have two other dish antenna systems. Both have worked great for years.

Have you thought about a "Star Net" satellite system? It's all the rage in Ukraine thanks to Elon Musk. I recently saw some of these satellite systems in use at RV campgounds
