I just wanted to see if anyone else is having issue with Diode Dynamic Fog Light Mounting Brackets not staying in place and not having enough aim adjustments.
I contacted DD A while ago and they graciously sent out new mounts thinking I was missing hardware but now I realize that’s that’s not the case. The mounts are pretty flimsy but they can’t take all the blame Toyota's design is nothing short but weak. The screw that pushes or pulls the light up or down doesn’t allow for enough adjustment. Also the side mounting hardware doesn’t secure the light into the bumper it’s more or less just holding the light to the mounting bracket. Toyota clearly designed this from a factory install that a worker can just push a fog light into the bumper and plug it in and be done.
Am I missing something or anyone have a better design? I might make some brackets that secure the light to the bumper.

I do know my driver side mount has some damage from a dealer yanking the light out at some point.

So I went ahead and installed a two washers on the DD bracket to help push the DD bracket Holes out further. Then I went ahead and installed some large fender washers on the outside where the allen head bolts screw into. This put pressure against the light and help prevent the light from moving around in the bumper housing.

I’ve been running mine for about 8 months now with no issues. They will be fine.

Mine were super loose and kept moving and even though the bolts on the sides were super tight. I just realized that after I removed the bumper and looking at the lights, I had the plastic insert that holds the light adjuster screw in backwards :annoyed:. That definitively helped with getting them aimed correctly. When I pulled everything out I flipped them and started re-installing before I took photos. I do wish they offered something that held the light in tighter and better prevention from coming out.

Now If I can get people to stop flashing their high beams at me

Which lens do you have on the fog lights? I had a trooper pull me over for mine being too bright with the driving lens on them. Thankfully had the fog lens at home.

I have the driving light which doesn't use the diffused panel, and I just checked the DD website and will probably purchase the Fog Beam Pattern and try those.

Direct From DD"Colors. SS3 LED pod lenses are available in clear material, producing white light, or a selective yellow filter. You can change the color of your lights by swapping out the lens, but please note that changing colors may not be perfect with these lenses, because different LEDs are used depending on the color of light you originally purchased. If you purchased White pods originally, they have 6000K white emitters, while Yellow SS3s come with 4000K emitters."

Yeah the driving light is no bueno for oncoming traffic. I forgot to turn them off when I met the trooper…oops

Blinding oncoming drivers is not a good thing. I bought the SS3 pro sae driving lights light because I wanted something I could leave on and not worry about. I'd thought that the sae rating meant that they had proper cutoff. They don't. I've re-aimed them to where I don't really get flashed but the tradeoff is now they're not really pointed where there as useful to me. We've spent a lot of money on these, and while we got quality construction, I don't feel we've gotten our moneys' worth in lens focus/cutoff.

I would agree they don't have the cut off that I thought they would. I'm going to purchase the fog light lens cover or the combo and try that and see how it goes.

at least you all can install these, i own an ARB bumper and they don't even have an option to fit the factory mounting holes in the bumper, though a part of me was thinking about heading down to my local wrecking yard cutting up2 buckets from an oem bumper and see about 3d printing, or some fibreglass but then why do all the unnecessary work, when i might just be able to mount to a piece of flat metal bolted from the back

Driving Lights are equivalent to High Beams and should never be used with another car in front of you

I think you had the wrong expectations on the driving lens. Given it’s an LED pod not sure how you thought it would have a cutoff like a headlight.

As I mentioned before I was constantly turning mine off for oncoming traffic and would never turn them on in town. Switched to the fog lens with much better results.

A driving beam should only be used with your high beams - not all the time. If you want something that you can legally use all the time, you need a properly aimed fog beam.

And I should add - based on personal experience - that the Pro with fog optics is still marginal for street use. It's very powerful and has a somewhat poorly defined beam pattern top to bottom. Although this is great because it adds some distance lighting, the upward spill will bother oncoming drivers - even when aimed properly. I switched up to the Max in selective yellow with fog optics and even though it's even more powerful, it bothers fewer people.

When you say “it’s an led pod” is it not possible to manufacture one with proper cutoff? So for me it was a misunderstanding of what an SAE rated light gets you. At the price point I thought that that was one of the things I was paying up for - lens technology. I’m sure I’m not the only one. My intentions with what I was putting on my truck were good.

Put the fog lens on there and you will be fine. You are gaping to get better output than stock high beams. I rarely use my current high beams. I do have the stuff to upgrade to the ultimate headlight.

    Just some stuff...
I’ve had mine for close to a year with no issues. You’re right about not having much adjustment though. Other than that mine are rock solid.
