Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Gag. I once cleaned my stepmom's PC before she passed. It looked like and smelled like an ashtray when I opened it up. I was half tempted to just buy her a new one. She was a chain smoker and keep the ashtray right next to the thing. So it would just pull the smoke in the front, across all the components, and straight out the back. Disgusting.

    watch eastwoods deals.

in early fall, they had a special welding equipment sale(i think they liquidated old models), i ended up picking up their mig-90 for $140. sold my old hf flux core for $100 to my brother-in-law, so it only cost me $40 to get into, but even $140 for a full-featured mig welder is well worth it. haven't used it much other than playing a little, but it works better than my old hf with flux core wire, at least because i can swap the positive/negative to control the arc direction.

New house didn’t have a garbage disposal so after 3 months of dealing with a strainer and the gf with a total disregard for what goes down the drain, it was time.
Major challenge was running power under the sink. The wall had a single plug linked to the dining room according to the panel. Had a single lead to the outlet so that was simple enough to tap into…. Now to get a wire run. Was fortunate enough I punched a hole behind the washer and was able to feel the bottom of the outlet box. Success.

That was enough for one evening. Switch all wired up.

    Now for the disposal.
Took the old p-trap out and fit the disposals with a new trap that has disconnects. This was the easy part of the whole job, aside from being 6’2 and working off the floor. Ugh.

It was unfortunate the outlet under the sink wasn’t on a switch and powers the washer. everyone is now happy feeding anything into the sink……..

You could have used the outlet under the sink with an air switch on/in the counter.

Of course, not sure what code in your area would say about that.

Looks great! Good that everyone is happy!

im unfamiliar with this Air switch as you say. code??? its Rhode Island which allows you to do your own plumbing, unlike Mass which by code does not. I kid mostly.

quick search and it appear to be more work than running a wire but I did learn something today so I guess its beer time.

It's just a push-button, usually in a hole in the counter. A tube, which carries air compressed by the switch, connects to a relay/switch, which controls the power going to your disposer.

I assume they are still on the market - haven't seen one or looked for one for several years.

air switches are still very much on the market. one of my main contractors uses it in all his jobs, it tidy's up the counter not needing another switch, and also allows bigger window openings above the sink without having to reach so far off to the side for disposal activation.

biggest concern is that the circuit under the sink needs to be a dedicated 20A circuit to support it. dishwashers draw about 9-12A, disposals are usually around 4-6A.

Being that the fridge wont fit in the doorway to the living room even with the doors off (honestly not sure how they got it into the house), looks like Ive gotta tile the kitchen, put the appliances back, then tile the dining room. Cement board went down today, right over top of some ancient linoleum but not before a good thick layer of mortar. Then 350ish screws to hold everything down. Still have one creak, not enough movement to crack a tile but Ill still go under the house to fix it...one day.

Now Im figuring out the layout so Ill be ready to go full send tomorrow.

The creak is right around the air duct, hence the excessive amount of screws near it.

The floor is nowhere near level, so installing these should be fun to say the least.

Would this be considered upgrading or downgrading?

Here’s the kitchen. Notice I have half metal lagged wall all in the dining room.

To add some more info, my garbage disposal took a dump and am looking to replace it with straight pipe. The faucet has a small leak on the outside and needs replaced eventually. I thought to go all new assembly on everything is the way to go.

Finally got my washer and dryer put back in place after putting in a new outlet box. Patched up the hole from the old location, new braided lines, and put in a new dryer vent tube. Now I’m just hoping these units will last a good while longer. Although not used heavily, they’re from 2001.

keep 'em running if you can! easier to work on with mechanical timers and simple electrical contacts, no circuit boards! mine are from the 90's for a similar reason

I have about a 16ft wall between my two living rooms. It is a supporting wall so would need columns or a beam. Does anyone have a rough cost for that? Not even sure we want to do it but cost could convince me to bring a contractor out.

don’t need anything exact but is this a 5-10k job, 20k plus? I have no idea.

Pfister has been decent to us. They have a single handle and cover plate for the 3 hole. Then you can use the last hole for soap dispenser or cover that. We had one soap dispenser, had a small hose that ran a jug. Rather than a small bottle that was a pain to screw in the bottom, under the sink.

I have a Moen pull out faucet. I really like it, and it comes with the adapter plate to cover up the 3 holes in older sinks.

I guess the 4th hole you'll need a cover or put a soap dispenser there.
