It's certainly a good mixer and I sometimes drink it on the rocks. To me, it's better than those others you mentioned, but everybodys different.

I agree with this, but BT and Saz are not easily obtained around me. In fact, if they were, those 2, Eagle Rare, and Weller SR(all hard to get) would probably be the only ones I would ever buy.

typically always use a low/mid tier rye for cocktails, and usually around 100 proof. Turkey 101 rye is good enough to drink neat and also cheap enough to mix, but there are many choices in that category…..good luck

So far Sazerac has been one of my favorites. I’m really tempted to keep this one stocked in the pantry.

Got my hands on one today in Fort Lauderdale.. $119. Same place had a Willett family estate single-barrel 6 year for $1k, but I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger.

I’ll never know since I won’t buy one and I’m unlikely to come across it at a bar, but the Decadence sounds like it’d be too sweet for me. I like fairly subtle sweet but not too richly sweet, in bourbon and in general.

I just saw a WJ 14 in MD for $300, which isn’t even a consideration given it’s a sourced blend, however great the blend may be. I do like the 10 year.

Willett Family Estate stuff is cool, but I buy to drink it (eventually), and I don’t know how that bottle would taste 10 times as good as the few $100 bottles I have. Evvvvvery once in a while I’m willing to spend more on a conquest that’s a hard find, but even then it’s a real stretch and I’ll sit there and go back and forth. I’ve passed on a LOT of stuff > $100 that I just couldn’t justify to myself (or to my kids’ 529s).

This is a damn good EC store pick. Having had both, I proclaim it superior to 12y ECBP C922.

    I'm glad I bought 2.

Heard about this stuff. Anyone care to comment? Most finished whiskies have not lit my fire.

WT Masters Keep One with the toasted barrel finish is the notable exception.

Also Maker's Mark with their staves. Big MM fan.

Any suggestions for a mid-tier 12 year age stated bourbon or rye? Just got an award and promotion at work, looking for a bottle to celebrate it and I'm in my 12th year with the company. Thought it would be a cool way to commemorate.

In doing research I found that Wild Turkey does a 12 year but seems it's not available in the US. Looking for something a little nicer than the Knob Creek but not quite the Pappy. Don't want to have to wait another 6 months and buy a Russell's 13. :D

Weller 12 is an option if I can find one.
