I do work for a certain cargo vehicle rental company and I just noticed none of their vehicles have inspections. the license plates are from various states, but do they strategically plan to tag the vehicles in states that don’t require and inspection or is there a business exemption available?

    You got me, man.

Is it possible for a manufacturing defect, yes and no. User error, very possible. Dropped in mud, standing water, stepped on while in the elements and so on, and the waterproof seal (if there) is now damaged in one way shape or form, dunno. I'm grasping at straws here. I do find it interesting that the said issue has made it to the NTHSA. there must have been some injuries or damage to vehicles/equipment or something (in my mind) for it to get that far.

All I can say is.. Be safe with your's. We don't need a damaged Randy.

What’s going on guys, just moved to Arlington VA from MD. Will tires sticking out the fender and metal bumper fail inspection in VA? I heard LED lights are okay as long as they have their own independent switch and can be left off on the road

Are you going to work for Caterpillar?
Definitely not WV, they're worse than VA
Tires that stick out no problemo. If you have a cover for the lights just put them on for the inspection.

Edit: And welcome to the area!

Yep in Peoria, IL or Lafayette, IN not sure yet they gotta tell me. It's kinda scary though to move far away. Indiana for sure has no inspection, but I'm not sure about Illinois haha

Depending on wiring they may not pass. So as I understand it, lights below the headlights have to turn off when the brights are on. Anything above the headlights doesn't matter. Just can't be on under normal driving. Easy way is to cover them. Then none of the above matters.

Tires and bumper don't matter. Or at least I never failed for it. There is a limit to how far the tires can stick out past the fenders, but I believe it's more about coverage.

I totally know the feeling, moving so far away. I felt that way when I left for the navy. You’ll be homesick at first but once you get settled and make friends and get in a groove, it becomes a whole lot of fun.

I used the gas station on Wilson and George Mason right by the McDonalds and Puppetella. They are the type that will be like, I passed you but you need to fix that.
