I'm not electrically inclined and cant find others who have had this issue.

The "4Lo" yellow light starts flashing whenever I switch to 4h and will not stop until I turn the vehicle off and restart it. The 4H and 4L are still engaging as they should, but the 4Lo flashes and the green vehicle that indicates 4WD is not lighting up.

Any ideas here on what is shorted? I do have the 2Lo option installed and wondering if it is coming from there. The 4Lo blinks though no matter if I use the 2Lo button or not.

    Thanks for the help.

I’d definitely start at the modification.
Are you sure the transfer case is actually in Low? I thought flashing meant it is attempting to shift, not actually done shifting. I’m not 100% sure on that, so don’t take my word for it.

If I were you I’d remove the 2 Lo mod and see if the problem is still there.

I read your other dup thread, and it sounds like you have HVAC issues too? Sounds like you have electrical issues and should get it in the hands of a qualified tech, if in unhooking mods doesn’t work.

Did you push the 4 Lo button ring in while turning it to engage it? You can't just turn the dial to 4 Lo, but also must push the outer button ring in. That happened to me when I went to use 4 Lo the very first time, and doing what I mentioned was the solution for me.

I’m sure it shifted, took some turns after engaging it in 4Hi and then had the transfer case shift to low gears. Took it hunting this morning. 4Lo blinked all morning no matter if I was in 4Hi, 4Lo or 2wd after I first engaged it.

I’ll get the 2Lo unhooked and see if that fixes it. Strange how the green 4wd indicator doesn’t light up also.

Slow to get around to removing that 2 Lo mod when things have been working. Just finished and tried it with no difference. “4 Lo” still flashes whenever I use the 4Hi or Lo. Funny thing though if I restart the pickup off while engaged then the normal lights come on for 4Hi of Lo and the “4 Lo” quits flashing.

if anyone encounters this same issue would love to hear if they figured out the problem. For now I’m just going to live with the dumb blinking light.

Did you contact the maker of that mod, maybe they would have some useful input?

Maybe scan it for codes or have the scanner hooked up while driving?

I’d guess that this mod would be something to disconnect before going to the dealer?

Update and clarification: the “4lo” is blinking when I try to out it in 4Hi. The issue has nothing to do with the 2Lo option I installed as it had been removed.

today I took apart the ADD module and I soldered the connections before reassembling and reinstalling. This did not change the issue.

the problem has deteriorated from where I initially only needed to turn the 4wd knob back and forth a few times to engage 4wd. No I have to turn the knob and then turn the pickup off and back on to make the actuator work.

im starting to wonder if it is the switch itself, but why it work when I turn the pickup off and back on is beyond me.

    ideas?

Don't mod. Very seldom does stock exhibit these problems.

This is a zero help response. Save your time and mine please. This is a stock part issue that is affecting the 4wd. The 2Lo mod had nothing to do with it, but I removed in any case.

Just stating fact. Sorry if that bothers you.
99% of problems here are caused by mods from OEM. You surely could be in the 1% but I doubt it. Good luck man.

You are a useless ass. Use your 10000+ comments productively instead of “I told you so”.

im asking for ideas on this issue and usually that’s what this forum helps people with. If I’m going to get trolled by the likes of you then I will move on and suggest others do the same.

I was going to attempt to try to explain how - in my experience - the 2lo mod could cause this, regardless of whether it’s still in place.

However, I’ll save it for a day when I have the bandwidth to go back and forth about whether I’m being helpful, a troll or an ass. In the meantime, good luck trying to sort this out.

Finally diagnosed and fixed as a bad cable and wheel speed sensor if anyone runs into this again.
