Skipping

I have a 2006 toyota tacoma 4x4 6 speed 4.0 cranks fine no skip at idle but when I accelerate it skip quit bad but it isn't a Repetitive skip like it Alternates back-and-forth but when the motor is cold it skips so bad it make it go to limp mode and I have to turn it off and back on to get it out of limp mode so i can Continue driving

 

Codes?

 

Need to check codes. Could be coils possibly

 

Haven't checked for codes in a while but it was skipping for like a month at the time and no codes but I haven't rechecked in like 3 months but the skip did start out as little only when I was like idling in gear at like 300 rpm then give it gas and you could feel it skip now it's just got horrible and the truck has 265000 miles

 

Does the check engine light flash when this happens?

 

When it's cold and goes into limp mode yes the check engine light starts flashing

 

Thats a bad misfire, you need to scan it.

 

Spark plugs, Coils????
