I’m partial to walnut on the outside with maple & ebony within.

Gorgeous contrasts with all of them.

    The joys of woodworking!
Final cut to size and whaddya know? Internal stress cracking. Once I get it shaped, I’ll fill it with epoxy. Fun times.

I’d been thinking of Purple Heart for the center strip, but my daughter picked the cocobolo. After seeing how well the three woods go together, I think it’s much nicer, and more subtle.

What kind of epoxy will you use? And where do you get it from?

Super glue( cyanoacrylate) would work too.

I have some West System on hand. I’ve used a lot of that over the years on iceboat projects.

I hadn’t thought of that. I bet it would flow in a lot easier

@Gen1TacoLady harbor freight has packs of super glue. They are nice because its small quantity and if it dries up you can toss the one tube.

I’m not sure about all the CA glues but I use starbond and they have different viscosities to choose from for gap filling. For large voids, epoxy is still the way to go. This is thick CA glue, I use it to stabilize small checking or filling knots that don’t quite warrant epoxy.

Starbond and activator are what I use for rings and other small items. Fantastic stuff.

I’ve used it a lot to create small plastic parts using card stock paper as a form.

    Works great!

The sheer delicacy needed to do that kind of work is giving me major anxiety
