    That sounds to me more of a gm problem. Or a head coach that can’t identify or hire defensive coaching assistants. Or cheap ownership that won’t bump against the cap since they had more than 10 million cap to spare. In any case they are what they are, 1/2 half good, 1/2 half bad. Added together is not enough so it looks like NY is going to Philly and we get Monday nights winner.

    my guess is John Lynch agrees with you. I think that’s the real reason the niners wanted to trade Jimmy. With Lance under control and Purdy on a rookie deal now is the time to load up elsewhere. In the end they brought him back on a renegotiated deal as it’s obvious to all there’s no better place for him than here. People keep saying Kyle couldn’t wait to be rid of him but that was never the case, it was the contract but Tres hasn’t been able to force the issue so he’s still around. It might piss Brady off but I don’t see him coming here unless he wants to so badly it’s on the cheap and allows Lynch the flexibility to maintain what they’ve put together.

    It’s the better path if you can build the team and find a solid qb. If mahommes wins this year they’d be the exception not the rule. And I imagine they’ll be restructuring his deal in the very near future.

    Hopefully Mahomes is smart enough to realize winning means more in promotional contracts that don’t affect the cap so leaving something on the table helps him in the long run.
