Here I'll weigh in seriously on this dark spot in the timeline of history. I dont understand why it was all the rage and acceptable to intern people or put them in concentration camps. It's just truly insane that this kind of thing would happen in a "Free" country or countries

It's also worthy of pointing out that germans were interned in camps during ww2 as well.

 

Yea, that's what I'm talking about. Misunderstanding asian culture. The japanese american population now-a-days, probably mostly due to the war is different.
But there are tons of proverbs about being chinese/japanese, whatever, regardless of nationality. To many, it comes first, throw in a war and some paranoia, a few anecdotes. You get internment. Not wholly against it I suppose, I don't know about how they were treated however. Doesn't get much press. Either a great coverup or wartime cohesiveness. I have heard some of the local japanese, during some commemoration, saying that it was a bit of a farce but all's well that ends well, then I hear a bunch of white guilt. Think it falls into one of those, "if you weren't there, don't be so quick to judge" things.
