I believe it was the Gen I. I still wouldn't put my trust in them after how bad mine was.

Garmin Mini 2 has been good to me for the price and daily commute. You’re also able to link multiple garmin cams in your vehicle (rear cam). I haven’t done that though…

I have the Garmin mini 2 in my wife’s Odyssey. It’s good enough I guess. I hesitate to get the FitCamX because I don’t want to have to tap into the line of a “safety” system no matter how safe. If you get into a wreck that opens a can of big liability worms.

I got the fitmax front and rear camera. You have the option to buy just the front only. Great quality and doesn’t stand out. It’s cheaper price on fitmax.com rather than Amazon.

Try Amazon (3rd party seller). Just make sure its a 10pin Toyota connection for your year. Looks like dongars website is sold out.

I got the Garmin Mini 2 and this is what it captured last week on my truck. Some dude ran a red light and hit me as I was turning right at an intersection. He left the scene, but I got him on video.

    Oh look, another mod....

It's great that you got him on video. But people need to realize that having a dashcam doesn't ALWAYS save you. What if you never find the guy? What if you find him but he has no insurance or not enough insurance to fix your vehicle.

Sure, dashcams are great (I have the Garmin Mini also), they'll help you WHEN you need to determine who's at fault so they can pay. But you should always...always always always, cover under-insured and un-insured motorist on your insurance policy.

There are too many people driving without it. Good luck man, I hope you catch the guy and I hope he's insured.

Anyone have experience with the Rexing M2 2k front and rear cameras? If so, will the Dongar work with it?

    Glad your truck
It’s happened to where my insurance fixed my bumper, my insurance filed a claim w theirs regardless of how much they were insured. Didn’t mess w my premium either. Guess I was lucky.

Peace of mind w the cams. Not an and all be all but sometimes it can be useful.

Having the cam footage available for your provider is very helpful in determining if the loss is chargeable to you or not, whether the other auto is caught, has insurance or not. do you know how many people lie to the insurance on hit and runs, or how many people after saying they are at fault at the scene, change their mind when the police get there, or the insurance companies start questioning them? having a cam negates all the lies. having proof to back it up, is priceless. I never said it wasn't helpful. What I said (I'll say it again because you clearly have a reading problem) is: Even if you get the accident/hit-n-run on dash cam, that means nothing if the other person is NOT INSURED.

Sure, your insurance 'may' pay for your repairs, but only if you file the claim against your own insurance. And don't be fooled, eventually your rates will go up because of it. There is no way they are going to eat the cost of that repair and let you get off scott-free.

My dash cam plugs into the Go Pro holder on my '17 windshield. I also got the dongle adapter to avoid running that cable around the windshield..

WOW, just WOW. thank you for your insightful, and thoughtful post. I really appreciate you, going full Karen, when we are trying to have a conversation and help other people. resorting to conflict, and insults, right off the bat, when I did nothing but, quote your post, to give another side of why to have a cam. Outstanding! Ski

If an attorney finds out you purposely interfered with a safety device on your vehicle it isn’t going to turn out well for you.

In order to set expectations, I would consider watching this video before spending a bunch of money on a dashcam.

They are useful in some situations but many don't make out license plates in the dark on stationary vehicles, let alone moving vehicles - day or night.
