None to speak of, just enjoying it for the moment.
This statement right here is totally amazing to me. I work hard and deeply value my salary, and one needs to shell out a lot of bucks for a brand-new vehicle (and I paid cash for my Tacoma). It is unconceivable to me that I could ever make that sort of investment and not know everything about the car/truck I'm buying. In fact, I have never met a salesman that knew more about the vehicle I was buying than I did. I'm not like this with routine low-cost items but would feel like I cheated myself if I didn't do my research for high-cost items. Like someone else mentioned already, it is extremely rare when the average driver could ever out react these systems so by disabling them you are putting yourself and others potentially at risk which is also a selfish and somewhat foolish behavior. Oh, and reflexes don't get better with age either, otherwise formula 1 drivers would all be senior citizens! The real kicker here is that these fantastic systems require absolutely zero effort or adjustment by the driver (I'm referring to on-road driving of course). After reading how many of you disable LDA I realized there is only one reason (again on road driving), you are incapable of keeping your vehicle between the lines and that right there is very telling, because if you did you would never know the system was operating!

Under hood fuse box. Note that you'll lose your bluetooth mic which goes through the telematics unit. The telematics unit has a backup battery which will run down after a bit. Then you'll see the DCM icon on the head unit greyed out and the SOS light in the overhead console go dark.

i turned off LDA simply because it's only a beeper tone. if it vibrated the wheel/seat i'd leave it. the beep is the same beep for the a number of other vehicle functions like rev limiter, brake warning, and seatbelt warning. so anytime it goes off, it's a roulette of 'which system activated it?' and i've got to look away from the road, focus on the gauges, read the gauge display warning, then look back up. my brake warning goes off sporadically, i call it my 'ghost detector'. leaving LDA on just means i'm trying to figure out what's causing the beep longer than immediately understanding the issue the truck is trying to warn me about, and i can issue the correction.

so i argue LDA in it's present form in my truck actually makes me a more hazardous driver due to the poor integration and awareness techniques implemented.

Be assured: I can tell you from personal experience that at least the stability control systems work. I was driving my Dad in his Cadillac one time on a straight piece of wet slushy road when when the rear end of it suddenly "stepped out" to the left at only 30 mph with no warning: black ice. Immediate reaction from my experience was to counter-steer into the skid.... EXCEPT this Caddy was Front-Wheel-Drive...... Before I had a chance to react or even apply the remedy, it was like a Guardian Angel reached down and pulled the rear-end back in. I'll never forget it. It makes a believer out of you. Saved a likely spin-out on a ditch and tree-lined road. I think it was a 2005.

My Tacoma has sent warnings to me occasionally via the flashing stability control lamp: I can live with the "spying".

Yeah, I get it, it's really hard to tell whether the chime your hearing is your engine over revving (because how would you know that otherwise?) I mean we rarely have full control of our foot on the accelerator pedal right. Of course, if your seatbelt miraculously comes loose how would you know, we know that happens ALL the time doesn't it!
If your brake warning goes off sporadically you might want to have that looked at before it gets worse.
Is there a sarcasm font here?

Shark fin gets me great FM radio reception, I'm happy with that. I didn't want the nanny crap that came on this truck but I admit I use some of it now. Just today I was driving down the highway eating pizza with the radar cruise set at 80 mph and LDA on. I felt much safer steering with my left knee knowing the truck would beep at me if I swerved and would slow it's self down before I ran over a subie full of stoners going 45. So yeah, some of this stuff is nice.

Me to salesman - “hey, I kind of like that silver one over there…” :)

Imagine my surprise when I got home and discovered it was the SR Access cab Utility package and didn’t have a back seat.

Exactly what I'd want if they made it with a manual transmission (either engine--I don't really care)

3 years later and I still love this truck, exactly what I wanted, so much room in back behind the front seats for when I moved plus the 6 ft bed which was a must. Other things I wanted I just added- fog lights, intermittent wipers (lol this is truly the only thing that surprised me), keyless entry, led dome lights so I can see stuff in the back, etc.

    Enough for now
As I was hating on this thread, confused as to why it got stickied, I then realized I don’t use the lane assist, my BSM stopped working, I don’t use the Qi charger, or the radar cruise control, and a tune made the ECT obsolete…..damnit I’m part of the “turn shit off” group.

and since I don’t listen to the radio at all the shark fin may go away soon…

Your BSM stopped working? Did you get a lift? I like the verification light being off when I change lanes. I was driving in heavy rains yesterday in the dark. It was hard to see cars around me even with their headlights on. Sadly, I think the heavy rain caused BSM to not work as well, there were several times I knew cars were in my blind spot and the light wasn't coming on.

Did you ever get it checked out?
