Gave up on the goodyear tires, backordered until next year.

    I ordered them in November.

So I went with KM3s. Took less to balance them and they were $11 less per tire.

    And they were in stock.

Just got back from an extended DV trip.

    3 issues to address.
Front suspension, rear suspension and back softopper flap

Still not sure what I am going to do by myself.

    We will see

Front suspension it appears you lost the control arm nut can you just replace or install a whole new bolt and nut?
Rear suspension what kind of shackle hanger is that it looks like it’s welded on?
I’d think you could just order a new softopper rear window

Did replace the nut, a totaled 4runner was in a parking lot and they let me take the nut off of it. But there is lots of work to do on the front.
The back should be hanging but the leaves are 12 years old, so they are actually lifting the shackles up.

And yes, I already ordered the back flap, unless you are offering to pay?

I can’t see what all the front needs I’m still looking at the rear I get the leaf packs are flat are the Dakar heavy’s? I’m still trying to wrap my head around the shackle hangers. At this point I guess the simplest approach is just replace the leaf packs. If the hangers weren’t welded I’d suggest to consider a set of the Archive hangers

All the bushings in the uca and lcas need replacement.
Yes drakars but these are good hangers. Probably will also get the kings rebuilt. Been about 160k

Now that I look at the pic I can move the shackles back another slot. That would have helped

It was a muddy one, and snowy.

We went into BLM land,Middle park and South Park, and over chicken rock, which has had the top half removed, easy now.
Stayed at Briggs cabin, really nice for a free use place. Slept 8, solar panels provide lights, music and hot shower. Wood burning stove.
I lost a nut on my UCA so I skipped the run to Defense mine, I have done it twice in the last few months. Stayed in a glamping tent in Panamint Springs, to avoid the rain and tried to go up hunter mountain, lead jeep had bad tires so we turned back. Went up to Santa Rosa mine and the stock Tacoma with ATs lost 2 tires In the snow covered rocks.

    Good times.

I have more on the dash cam, I will post as I pull them off.

If you haven’t already replaced the nut on that UCA, I have several extras in my parts bin. Let me know.

    Funny story about that.

When I was at Panamint springs, a guy pulled up with a wrecked 3rd gen 4 runner, he had bought it for the engine and let me pull the nut and washer. Got me going the last day.

:101010: Looks like a great time, except for the lost UCA nut, glad you caught that and were able to get it fixed in the field.

I’ll get out there one day.

Water in the desert  !?! Is that the normally bottomless silt bed near Eureka Dunes?

After the last trip I knew I had a lot of work to do on the truck.

Bought all the parts and stared at them for a month. Thought about all the bolts that haven't been touched for 12 years.

So I took it to a shop.

The repair guy has called me 4 times to let me know about issues. Including the mid skid that sprung out of place when he took a bolt off. He said he would try to put it back but he doubts it will go.

Bumpstop issue, adjusting cam on the LCA was destroyed. Rear shocks were still good and the wheel bearing might have survived.

    He's only halfway through

:D @ the skid. LoL Good strategy of enlisting shop help. It'll get done faster and your time is saved.

    Look forward to more...

Got the truck back, had a few issues with parts and the mid skid is in the bed of the truck.
Ride hight is back to normal and I don't see a difference between the heavy and mid leaf springs.

Ball joints were shot as well as the bushings. It was nice to get in and out without noise (the truck not me).

When this rain stops I can get to some of the small stuff.
